A couple of times a year we visit 'The Crown', for a single night. We always go for one of the better rooms, with a full sea view (220 this time). Sometimes we have been disappointed with the food, food presentation and / or service. In fact we reviewed the Crown October 2012.
The staff are nearly always friendly, and the hotel is run in a nice easy going way, with most problems addressed straight away.
Although peak season and expensive, with no allowance against the evening meal, we really enjoyed the visit. Room was comfortable, and considering the 150 years of use, very good condition. Evening meal was £62 inc drinks, main and pudding - pretty good. Food and service was very good, with pleasant chatty staff. Unusually, for us, we had the hot breakfast (after a swim) downstairs in the breakfast room. Usual continental board, but included in the price was a 'Full English' which was cooked to order. Lovely crispy bacon, properly cooked fresh egg and all the 'Bits', we just needed that walk to North Bay after that.
In spite of the very busy time of year, we really enjoyed the stay. It really is great to see such an hotel thriving, and providing traditional English service. - Well Done

Room Tip: As always - pay for what you get. Ask for full sea view. Get up early and use the pool.

We stayed one night here on a brief stop in Scarborough. The hotel itself is well presented and maintained and our room was spacious, well laid out and very clean. The sea view from the second floor was beautiful and the telescope in the room was a nice touch. Reception staff were friendly and helpful. We did find it strange though to arrive at 2pm and not be able to access our room until 3pm, seemed late by other hotel standards that I have experienced. The reception staff stored our luggage for us though and had it delivered to our room so it wasn't a huge issue.

I had requested a king bed but we were given two single beds pushed together and covered with king linen. This was rather uncomfortable and would put me off staying there again if I was not guaranteed a proper king bed. The room was stuffy even with the window open (it was quite sunny whilst we were there). We could also clearly hear the people in the room next to us (and they probably could hear us).

We didn't eat there but did have a drink in the bar and the staff were helpful there also. I found the bar area a bit small and cafe like and wasn't too inclined to linger there or seek a snack.

Overall, enjoyed our brief stay and would recommend The Crown Spa.

Room Tip: Sea View from second floor was lovely.

Thank you for taking the time to write a mostly positive review, I am a little disappointed that there were issues with the bed, all rooms have king-size beds but certain rooms have what are known as zip and link super kings, please do not hesitate to request a standard king on a future visit I am sure you will find this more comfortable.

I booked the hotel through Expedia which £151 was paid for one night comfort king size room with breakfast. At the reception, I was asked for £131 for one night! Then the receptionist said it was a mistake and it is £151 and already paid when I showed her the email from Experdia! We were given a room on the first floor. The room was very good but no view at all, just wall! There was a wedding in the hotel and we couldn't sleep till mid night because of the noise. The room was a bit cold and the heating system was off. The worst part was the continental breakfast. Not worth it at all...£9.99 per person, you will get much better breakfast in the other places for less.
We had a good time in Scarbrough but £151 not worth it.

Room Tip: Ask for sea view upper floors

Thank you for taking the time to write a review, I am a little disappointed that there were issues wit your reservation on check in. The weather of recent has been extremely warm and the heating fires up when the temperature drops outside, of recent I have had more issues with the rooms being too warm.

We stayed at the Crown Spa Hotel for one night visiting friends. This visit was a pleasant surprise.
Excellent value, great room with a superb view and an inclusive continental breakfast that had an excellent variety of hot and cold food.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that has a view of the castle, they have a telescope in the rooms so you can see the...

We stayed here in June of 2013 as part of our wedding ceremony which also took place at this fantastic hotel, I have to say that the attention to detail by all the staff was absolutely amazing and we were left feeling like VIP's.
to Emma who dealt mostly with our wedding through to Daphne who took over whilst Emma was on holidays... Down to our master of ceremonies on the day...I simply say this......
Thank you
Your professionalism shone through and you helped so very much in making our special day absolutely outstanding
I have no problem recommending this hotel to all my friends, family, work colleagues and anyone else who will listen
You did us proud and we will always be very grateful
Thank you again

Arrived here on the Friday night for the weekend, 2 nights, having paid a lot of money, £480 for a deluxe room with spa experience, more than I've paid in London for the same quality of room. So what was it like?

Pros were: good location, nice large room with excellent views, good evening meals, pleasant staff

Cons were: no shower gel in room on arrival - quite bad. Single beds pushed together and double/ king linen used which I think was appalling for the price paid for the room. The room was very stuffy and there is no air conditioning. Breakfast was just OK and for the price we paid I think a cooked breakfast should have been included. The spa is not worth the money - if you get a fire and ice experience don't bother - most of the facilities, apart from the ice room, are free by the pool . Our mud treatment was fine but there was a lack of staff for advice around. Parking is in the surrounding streets so be prepared to have to look for parking spaces and walk.

We did enjoy our time there but the management need to ensure that prices are competitive and that small details are attended to. If you spend a lot of money you expect excellent service and facilities - I don't think that we got those this time - but that could easily be rectified.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review and point out the positives with regards location, the room, staff and meals.

I am sorry that there was a shortage of toiletries but im sure that this along with any other issues were resolved when brought to our attention.

Our king size beds are what’s known in the hospitality trade as zip and links, they may appear as two single beds but both the base and mattresses do zip up to create a king.

The mud treatment is not a manned treatment the staff prepare the mud and offer advise on how to apply then customers are left to relax whilst the rooms go through the process of the steam, heat and rain bars. There is a buzzer that can be pressed if customers do require any further service.

Once again thank you for taking the time to write a review, we do read and reply to all reviews and use them to better our product for future guests.
