“A good place to eat”
Reviewed April 1, 2014

Fresh fish and chips after a day by the sea is one of the delights of life and we were not disappointed. The meal was very good, the service prompt and helpful, and we managed to get one of the tables in the window with a lovely view of Scarborough Bay. (Cafe is upstairs so view is excellent). I heard the waiter also telling a lady who could not eat batter because of her poor digestion that you can request the fish to be steamed or done how you like it by letting them know when ordering. This is worth knowing if you have that kind of problem. We really enjoyed the meal and would go again if in the area.

“Great fish and chips!”
Reviewed March 24, 2014 via mobile

We regularly visit Scarborough and used to visit another sea front restaurant for our fish and chips but our last visit was poor so we decided to give the Fishpan a try and it was miles better! Lovely warm service, nice little sea view tables, very reasonable prices and most importantly, fantastic fish and chips. My husband's cod was thick and we'll cooked and my haddock was just as good. Nice light crispy batter and tasty chips. We will be back soon!

“Didn't live up to reviews”
Reviewed March 18, 2014

We were recommended this restaurant/take out by a local. As there are so many highly rated fish & chip shops in Scarborough, we decided to trust a local. Well as far as we are concerned this establishment did not live up to the positive reviews on this site. The portion size was very small and the chips were anemic. Having sampled quite a few of the establishments in Whitby over the years, I can say my views are not without some experience. We were only on a day trip so we left very unhappy.

“Best of those available.... but go to Whitby!”
Reviewed March 13, 2014

We tried the Fishpan and it got a 60% rating from me. The fish plaice in my case was substantial and well cooked but the chips were disappointing. It was a family restaurant and full thus of families and not a lot of space. It was - well adequate would be a suitable description.

Very full and a lot of people enjoying themselves but was it exceptional, no! Ot looked better than the average Fish & Chip shop in Scarborough though but not a patch on the various national Fish & Chip award winning shops in Whitby!

“Delicious fish and chips”
Reviewed March 12, 2014

Visited the Fish Pan in Scarborough this afternoon with my husband and Dad and we were all very pleased with our meals. We were greeted by a very pleasant young man who was very obliging. OH and myself had the fish and Chip special which also included garden or mushy peas, bread and butter and a pot of tea or coffee. The portions were large, the chips were not at all greasy and the batter was crispy with nice fresh tasting fish. Dad had the pensioner special which was cheaper and was without the peas and a slightly smaller portion.
We all thought it was good value and will return on our next trip to Scarborough.
