We were all pretty hungry after a trip to Whitby, unfortunately curtailed by a torrential downpour! It was about 6.30p.m. on Monday, we sat upstairs at a table near the window. The waitress served us our drinks pretty promptly while we chose our main meals - fish, chips and mushy peas for three, and the seafood platter for my better half. The fish was the star - large fillets, super fresh and tasty, in a light, crisp batter, exactly as it should be. The seafood platter was large and reportedly very good.Chips were fine, but not outstanding; sauces came in sachets - I'm OK with that, as long as there's a pretty limitless supply, which there was! Puddings didn't appeal, besides we were too stuffed! Drinks were a lager, a cider and a shared bottle of Pinot Grigio, which was surprisingly drinkable. Service was fine and the bill modest. Fish and chips at a seaside resort is a must - I'd be surprised if the package came better anywhere else in town.
