“my relaxing weekend away from home”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 19, 2013

We had a wonderful stay, three nights, all I wished for..... Lovely surroundings, beautifully renovated rooms, in period style, interesting history. While my husband disappeared off to do a couple of long days fishing, I was able to find comfortable places to settle myself, to read, go for walks, sit in the garden, attended by lovely, friendly staff, who appeared to be everywhere, busy, but always willing to help or just to check I had all I needed. The food was wonderful, as was the wine.

This was our 3rd stay here and we do feel lucky to have found such a relaxing getaway. The food is excellent and the staff so attentive. To sit in the peaceful gardens enjoying a drink after days out in and around the area is such a treat. We look forward to returning when we can!

Room Tip: The rooms are available to view online and the ones overlooking the lawn/ gardens are serenely peace...

We had a week with first class service, good food and the setting was superb. The hotel is being extensively refurbished and with the friendly and efficient staff team this is a hotel with a good future. Our room was comfortable (apart from a rather hard mattress) but was not yet refurbished. We saw the new rooms which were first class and these are the ones to go for in the short term until the rest of the work is completed. As a base to see the North Yorks Moors and explore the coast this location was perfect and we enjoyed our week including a trip on the North Yorks Moor steam railway from Pickering to Whitby.

Room Tip: Go for the refurbished rooms if they are available.

Stayed here for last 2 years for the Scarborough Gold Cup (Motorbike races) and will stay again next year. Lovely hotel set in beautiful surroundings. The rooms are comfortable and the newly refurbished rooms are stunning. The food - some of the best we've ever had. Particularly loved the venison in chocolate sauce. The staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough to help. By the time we go next year we'll feel like old friends!

Room Tip: 14 15 16 and 1 are the most recently refurbished with lovely views.

Excellent food, spacious comfortable rooms and glorious surroundings make any stay at the Wrea Head a real pleasure.

The staff are professional, attentive and friendly. All are happy to help in any way ,even in supplying an emergency quantity of toothpaste at 10 pm.

We have had the good fortune to stay here in spring and autumn this year and look forward to further visits in the future.

Room Tip: If you like plenty of comfortable space and a good view room 4 could well suit you. The bathroom is...

Dear Ann, Jack, Len and the rest of the staff,

We are writing to say 'a sincere thank you' for the lovely holiday at the end of August;- your hospitality, attentiveness and cheerfulness made it another memorable experience and will return some time in the future.

The menu (1881 Restaurant) was very creative, there was an excellent choice of dishes and the food was superb.

Thank you all again for making our stay very comfortable and enjoyable; nothing was too much trouble. Jack and Anne looked after us in every way; they were efficient at answering our questions and tending to our queries.

Kind Regards, Leslie, Peter, Lynsey and Miranda (Shaw)

We made a last minute booking to dine at the hall as we were visiting Scarborough to celebrate our anniversary. It was a lovely experience! The food was delicious, the service was very attentive and the location itself was a beautiful, historic setting. We felt really welcome and overall the experience was faultless.

Thanks for a lovely evening!

Room Tip: We plan to stay at the hotel next time we are in the area!
