“Pleasant Visit”
Reviewed October 20, 2012

4 of us visited the Grapes on Friday 22nd September 2012 for a meal, 2 had gammon which was excellent, well cooked and presented, highly recommended. 1 had lamb steak, very Good but not much of it, 1 had Haddock and?? sorry can't remember, he said it was good but it seemed to me to be a bit scimpy!. The veg was a bit crispy could have done with a little more cooking. Drinks were a bit expensive. The soup starter (mushroom)3 and the sweet Raspberry franzipan 2 and ginger sponge 1 were good value. The whole bill came to £111.90. All in all a good night out, maybe a little expensive but would recommend. A smile would not go amiss from the staff.

“Not a pleasant experience”
Reviewed September 23, 2012

Went on Sunday 23rd September, we were invited there by my son who has just moved to the village, we arrived at a very nice looking pub, going inside we noticed all tables were reserved but plenty of space at the bar.
We asked they were doing sandwiches the chap behind the bar said no, Sunday Lunch only, thats ok, we decided to have a drink only, 3 children & 2 adults had soft drinks and two other adults had Lager.
When we had been served the Manager said you will be taking your drinks outside, not a question but an instruction, we felt like 2nd class people because we had (well behaved) children with us.
I later found out the chap was the Manager, from my dealings with him I think he has a terrible customer service attitude.
I have owned a couple of pubs in the past and would never dream of being so arrogant towards the people who pay my wages.
The other staff seemed very pleasant.

“Get a grip”
Reviewed September 20, 2012

Used to be great place Under previous management. However present boss has neither the xperience with general public nor the sense to change his ways. I nderstand local clientele has all but deserted the place - not surprised the proprietor has all the customer skills of an elephant. Also the previously sound food has deteriorated in the increasingly rare occurrences we eat there now.

A plea to the boss - change now or reap what you sew

“Very Good Food & Great Value.”
Reviewed September 6, 2012

Been here many times. Always very good food and great value for money. The pate starter is delicious. I love the gammon steak it is very good and comes with fried pineapple and a fried egg. Sticky Toffee pudding with Custard is very nice, you should defiantly try it. I really do enjoy eating here. The owners are very friendly and polite. If your looking for a great value, relaxed place to eat you must eat here. Thank You!
