“Always a warm welcome and first class food, (and drink).”

We went for a meal at this pub this evening. The pub itself is a delight, old fashioned in character with 3 distinct bar areas and a private dining room (also a separate area with a pool table). There is a lovely open fire in one of the bars - very warming on a cold, damp night . Landlords, Paul and Sally are very welcoming, always friendly and cheerful, as are all of the staff. The food was, as always, excellent - my steak really was "rare" as requested - nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The whole place has a wonderful atmosphere and is very clean and comfortable. I don't think that there's a better pub in Yorkshire - but I haven't tried them all yet!

“Excellent Food”
Reviewed November 7, 2011

Warm friendly atmosphere. Excellent food what more can one say. Don't go if you do not have a good Yorkshire size appetite as the portions are very generous!. Gets very busy so booking might be advisable. Enjoyed the large open fire!.

“Excellent from start to finish”

Fantastic olde worlde ambience from the moment you walk through the door. Lovely location, gorgeous homely log fire, friendly obliging staff, great food. A real "must go" if you've not already had the pleasure, you'll not be disappointed.

“Super Sunday”
Reviewed October 30, 2011

Just returned after enjoying a delicious Sunday lunch at the Bryherstones and had to write a review while I was still savouring my meal!! We have eaten here during the week before and thoroughly enjoyed it but the roast dinners were even better, in my view. The lamb and beef just melted in your mouth and the vegetables were crisp - just the way we like them. The staff were very attentive and the landlord was always around but not in your face. Not the cheapest Sunday lunch in town - but you get what you pay for. Well worth the money.

“An absolute gem of a find!”
Reviewed October 18, 2011

We chose the Bryherstones through a combination of research, recommendation and luck and we were blown away with it. We were welcomed by Paul the very genial owner and given a potted history of the place, followed by a tour of the entire pub. The food was superb in every respect and was very reasonable. It was so good, whilst we were choosing where to eat the following night, we both decided to return and check out the rest of the menu.
