Description: Take a step back in time. . . Francis Tea Rooms is set in an original 1930's hairdressing salon, complete with wood-pannelled booths. It has an unique atmosphere with hand embroidered tablecloths and Art Deco vases. We serve Taylors coffee and a variety of their loose teas in vintage china. A varied menu of brunch, light lunches and afternoon teas is available as well as a large selection of homemade cakes, tray bakes and scones. Our specialities are Homemade Soups, Welsh Rarebits, Quiches and Traditional Afternoon Teas. Our own recipe scones, lemon meringue pie and fresh fruit almond cakes earned us a place in The Guardians Top Ten Budget Eats - Yorkshire Coast 2010.

“Lovely little tea room”
Reviewed June 21, 2014

Excellent food, service and very child friendly. We had the ploughmans lunch and tart with salad all generous sized portions, good quality and inexpensive.
We took our 22 month old son, the staff were really helpful and made him exactly what we asked for and provided a beaker and high chair.
The individual booths and presentation of the food was excellent, we will definitely return. Lovely people too.

“A gem!”
Reviewed June 17, 2014

We booked for 1.30 and arrived at 12.30 due to the drizzly weather, we were met warmly and shown to our booth. The owners were really attentive and checked on us regularly to top up coffees and our tea pot.

The tea room is a vintage gem! Our personal booth was quirky with eclectic crockery, embroidered table cloths and was completed by a beautiful stained glass window.

We sampled the afternoon tea and ploughman's platter. There was a great selection of sandwiches and home made cakes, the heart shaped scones were divine. The platter was also well worth sampling!

If we had 1 piece of feedback it would be ....... Charge a bit more! You and you tea room are more than worth it! We will visit again and look forward to doing so!

Our advice is make sure you try Francis Tea Rooms it is truly unique and the value cannot be beaten!

“A little trip down memory Lane”
Reviewed June 14, 2014

I have been to Francis Tea Rooms several times now and just love the quaintness of the place. It really does feel like a trip down memory lane, such an 'oldy worldy' feel to the place. The service is excellent, the food well priced and just a lovely place to go. Definitely recommend Francis!
