“Excellent campsite”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 18, 2012 via mobile

We'd heard about about Humble Bee via friends and Facebook. We camped using an electric hook up and found the service excellent both in terms of booking and during our stay. The site was very clean and geared up for kids. The site has a play park and organises nature walks and activities for kids. Location wise, the site is close to Scarborough, Bridlington and the North York Moors and so has some wonderful countryside on its doorstep. Overall an excellent site.

We have recently come back from our first family camping trip and we enjoyed it so much we have booked to go back again! The location is lovely, set back off the road in beautiful countryside and isn't far from Filey, Bridlington and Scarborough. It is a lovely family orientated place and we loved the fact that it wasn't really noisy at night. We were particularly impressed with the cleanliness around the site especially the washing up area and the shower blocks. All staff are extremely helpful and willing to go the 'extra' mile to ensure you enjoy your stay. We can also recommend the locally sourced food especially the bacon and sausages - they were delicious! We would recommend Humble Bee Farm to anybody!!!

We (a family of 4 plus labrador) camped at HumbleBee in August 2012. It is set in a lovely location close to the beaches and moors, down in a valley (worth the small downside of needing to walk up the hill to use mobiles). Very helpful during booking process. John and Julia have done a great job in providing and maintainnig clean and excellent facilities. Guests have the use of a fridge freezer, microwave, washer/dryer (coin operated), hairdryers etc. Kids loved the play area and the goats and chickens and visiting/spending in the little shop. Dog loved the walks and "people watching"! A fish and chip van calls on a Saturday evening and bacon butties cooked outside are available on weekend mornings (I believe in high season, best to check on booking). I have seen a minority of reviews claiming that the campsite is too strict, this is not the case, at all, its just the owners' reasonable (eg play park closes after 9pm) and thoughtful requests which makes for a very pleasant "unnoisy" stay for the huge majority of visitors I'm sure. Am only not giving 5 out of 5 because this is our first camping trip and I have nothing to compare it against. But even without that it certainly merits a "Very Good" and may well be worth an "Excellent".

My partner, daughter and I stayed at Humble Bee Farm in the Swallows Nest Cottage for 7 days this summer. From the start we were treated with a very warm welcome, the Cottage was immaculate and catered for our every need and more. Our Cottage had the Hot Tub which made our stay even more enjoyable. Our 10 year old daughter was able to roam the farm in complete safety and enjoy the various animals (chickens, goats and ducks), the play area and make friends with other children on site. Owners John & Julia and their staff could not do more to make us feel welcome. The farm is a great base for family days out and is within an hours drive of Whitby, Scarborough, York and Malton (Eden Camp - good day out). A number of excellent beaches are within a short distance. Our dog even had a great time and was made very welcome. Can't wait to go back.

Overall excellent.

We went to Humble Bee farm for my husbands 40th birthday, we had a wigwam, my sister took her tent & my dad took his caravan, so we experienced the whole offering!!
The surroundings are perfect for relaxing. The farm appears out of no where in a valley & you really do feel like you are in the middle of nowhere when you're there, but it's so close to tons of attractions so there's plenty to do. They like to keep the farm very quiet for everyone's enjoyment & even though we had a small party with 11 people on the Saturday night it was easy to enjoy ourselves without being rowdy.
The little shop is well stocked with the essentials you need. As advertised, they source
everything locally & it's great quality.
The staff are very helpful & always available if you need them. They keep the place clean & tidy. The public areas like the showers & toilets are immaculate all the time. The site was full while we were there but none of us ever had to Queue for any of the facilities as there is enough & everyone is using them at different times.
The wigwam itself was great. We have stayed in them before in Scotland but the ones on Humble Bee Farm are our favourites as there in more space outside to park & sit etc & they provide a barbecue too. Our godchildren stayed with us one night & it comfortably slept 2 adults & 2 children. Our evenings entertainment was a fire pit hired for £8. They deliver them to you early evening with plenty of wood, so pack up your marshmallows & sit back & relax!! You could probably cook baked potatoes on the fire pit too.
I would highly recommend thisbplace to anyone & the price is so reasonable. You get what you pay for.

Stayed her as part of a group of 16 (8 adults and 8 kids) camping in the bottom field. We had been here 4 years ago and liked it then but the bottom field is now much better kept and facilities seemed to have improved. Toilets and showers were clean and had plenty of hot water. Never really had to wait to use anything.
Loved the delivery of a braiser each night £8. We were lucky and had the first fantastic weekend of sunny weather this year.
The owners keep a nice campsite with a relaxed atmosphere - some rules but all dead sensible.
Filey is a great place for a mixed kids age group ( 5 years to 13 years). We go to the long stay car park and then to the park - older ones play footie and go on the boating lake younger ones played on the climbing frames etc and we had a picnic. Crazy golf for all and then a short stroll via the cafe for a cup of tea and an ice cream to the beach.
Great all round

Having seen Humble Bee Farm grow from having just one electricity hook up by what is now the reception to a self contained holiday village full of tents, wigwams, caravans and cottages is just amazing.
John and Julia have done a fantastic job at Humble Bee and I will continue to visit time and time again. They are always warm, welcoming and happy to help whether you're visiting during summer or need a helping hand out of mud/snow during winter.
I will continue to recommend Humble Bee to everyone and I can't wait to see what else John and Julia have in store!
Good work guys, keep it up.

Room Tip: wigwams are amazing if you want a quick night away with no fuss for something with a little bit more...
