We stayed for one night with our two young children. The rooms were very, very clean and staff were polite and helpful. This hotel is not however aimed at a family market much more for older people. The decor was very dated and entertainment - bingo - does not really appeal to younger people. Earliest breakfast is served is 8am, not suitable for young family who are up and dressed by 7am so we had to get breakfast elsewhere.

When I phoned to book one night at the Cumberland - I explained that I was meeting friends who were staying there. The receptionist was very helpful and efficient, On arriving at the hotel found the staff friendly and it was arranged for me share a table with my friends for meals. The single room was very clean and a good size. The meals were good,

Spent the last 5 days at Cumberland with really elderly parents and it was fantastic . Staff made a real effort to help them .Our coach driver was superb . I only hope that this level of service is there when I am in my nineties. God bless the Irish especially, and everyone else as well.

Room Tip: Room 208 excellent.

The Hotel was great the staff brilliant the food super but the town, what a dirty, filthy, litter strewn hole. The town centre was encrusted with seagull "Guano",chip fat, blood ,vomit and piles of litter to the point of it being a public health hazard.we went through Alfa travel no problems there but the trips out :- Bridlington even dirtier than Scarborough, Beverley nice but it was deserted on a Sunday. Whitby fantastic, vibrant, clean (if Whitby can do it so can you other 2).would never ever go to Scarborough again.

We are glad we chose the Cumberland hotel to stay in. The holiday was with Alfa travel so we traveled by coach. The hotel is in a really good location , a short walk into town or to the seaside. The staff are very friendly ,our waiter Sam was excellent. We had breakfast and a three course evening meal , we could not fault the food , plenty of options , really good choice if your a vegetarian as well. We stayed in room 211 which is on the second floor , there is a lift if you need it. The room was very clean and tidy and the shower was excellent. We would recommend the Cumberland hotel.
