“Warm Welcome”
Reviewed October 2, 2011

We booked our stay at the Maynard over the telephone directly with the hotel.

On arrival we checked in and were made to feel really welcome, our room was on the third floor was comfortable and had all the amenities required.

Breakfast was served between 8.30 & 9.00 and offered a large selection of cereal, fresh fruit and full english breakfast.

Plenty of street parking can be found outside and near the hotel and a pass can be bought from the hotel.

Nice stay a good option

My wife and I have just returned from enjoying another fantastic holiday with Stuart and Angelia at the Maynard. In fact we have already booked again for next year, which will be our sixth stay with them. They treat everyone with the same friendly attitude as though they were your friends, whether it is your first visit, or as in our case the fifth. Everything is perfect from the moment you arrive until the day you depart. This must surely be the best place to stay in Scarborough.

I stayed here with my partner and son at the beginning of September and we had a lovely 2 days. Stuart and Angelia couldn't have been any nicer or helpful especially because we hd to take some food due to dietary requirements! Also enjoyed a funny night with another couple in the bar, seeing a 70 odd yr old man knocking aftershocks back made my year!! Would come back here without a doubt, loved it and definitely the nicest place Ive stayed in in Scarborough!

Room Tip: 84 steps to the top of building so check when booking if you struggle walking up a lot of steps!

we received very good hospitality as well as excellent food provided efficiently, the room was clean and accommodating, giving everything we needed, the hotel is far enough away for quietness yet near enough for all the amenities, loved the breakfast and the bar. thank you stuart and angelia !

Having just returned from a short family break (4 nights), we can highly recommend the Maynard Hotel - Thank you very much Stuart and Angelia for your hospitality - the stay was very enjoyable and we felt very comfortable throughout the break.

Like you are doing now, we reviewed Trip Advisor and based on the other reviews and availability (a cancellation), we booked this hotel, so my review summary is (in no particular order):

* A well stocked bar and reasonably priced.
* Very clean throughout the whole hotel
The bedlinen was crisp white
The towels are changed as and when (but as in most hotels, you are encouraged to get a couple of days out of them)
The rooms are cleaned every day
* Our room (10) was massive - a shower, double wardrobe, a queen size bed (2 singles together) AND 2 additional single beds for the kids, oh AND a leather settee in the bay window.
* Breakfast was very well cooked and presented - Cerials, Fruit Juice, Toast and a Full English (or combinations of any item depending on your liking.)
* We didnt get chance to sample the evening meal however i can only imagine it will be very nice.
* Lounge area with plenty of seating including a Playstation2 with a selection of games for the kids (or big kids!).
* The location of the hotel is at the bottom end of the south bay, so a 15 - 30 min walk to 'the strip'. The Spa complex and cliff lift is just at the bottom of the road, £2.10 for a family ticket down the lift and £6 for a family bus trip down to the harbour area.. Taxi ride - approx £5 to harbour.
* Car parking is on the street, council zoned but charged by the hotel at a very reasonable price - £2 for 4 days but that was just for the 3L zone (suggest you google the council website for the zone areas).

All in all, I highly recommend the Maynard Hotel - as the title says, nothing is too much trouble for Stuart and Angelia - if theres something you want or need, just ask.

I went with a very dear friend in the last week of July, we had been before but over one night. This last time we went for 5 days we asked if the room was available for one more day and were able to stay on. We both loved Scarborough but what made it even better for me, was that the couple who runs it looked after me well, because of my dietary needs. Even though I don't eat meat, I have a dairy allergy, they were amazing. They are also a very lovely couple, and what I found equally incredible was Stuart was a paramedic before he decided to going into being a hotelier Angie is a great cook, my friend and I hit it off with them straight way.
