just had another week at the derwentdale, good as ever.It really is warm and welcoming from start to finish, The food is excellent and plenty of it, and the rooms are very good as well. The owners are very nice people who will do anything to accomodate you, from what you want to eat and when you want to eat it.It really is a great family run guest house and probably the best value you will get anywhere.Ideally situated for peasholm park and the north bay, which the elderly in our party prefer. Thanks again for another wonderful week

Home from home, really do feel like part of the family staying here.Cereace has seen our boys grow up as we have Kirsty and now William and Eva . Our boys love going and are always made to feel extra special . Unbelievable value for money. You should not go hungry here be it breakfast or evening meal . Great location for north bay and only 10min walk to south side. Lovely front garden.Been coming here for years now and plan to for many more years. We have been getting to know other regular guest to. Stayed. in all rooms now no complaints at all . Lynn+Bob Hull

Stayed here for two nights as part of a hen party. We took over a large portion of the guesthouse, but there was a family staying there also. Don't worry, we are nice & respectful hens!
The welcome was a bit odd, starting with a sign on the door stating 'no shouting, no running, no loose women' etc etc....! The owner wasn't exactly welcoming, but maybe she had her guard up not knowing if we were going to trash the place or not.
The Hotel Inspector would have had a field day with the 'things' in the dining room and garden. If you're staying there soon, perhaps take a novelty salt and pepper set with you to sweeten the owner, she has quite a collection!! The garden decor actually made it easy to spot from the bus on the way home one night!!
Location - 5 mins walk to the north bay(quiet side) where you can catch a bus to south bay (fun side).
I always find with guesthouses that it's hard to know who's from the owners family and who's a guest as there are people just wandering around - my suggestion to all owners would be to do a bit of an introduction as it's confusing to guests who just want to ask a question, but don't know if they're addressing a fellow guest or a permanent resident!
Nice selection of sweets in the hall to grab on your way in and out and the breakfast was good. Worth a visit if just to see the salt & pepper pot collection!!!

Took my mum etc last year and they all loved it too. Very accomodating. If you love a good family atmosphere and a fab full english the Derwentdale Guest House is the place for you. Lovely jubbly.

we came down to scarborough for a long weekend just after i had a baby. we couldn't ask for anything better, the owner and her family was fantastic with us and help us with my little one.
the room was great had everything we needed and if we didn't have it all we had to do was ask and she got it for us. what can i say about the food, the only thing i can say is wow, my partner thought i was a good cook until that weekend my god the owner can cook. will be going back no questions asked.
