We had a great weekend stay at the Norbreck, good location with fabulous views. The food was good, served quickly on hot plates, staff in the restaurant were efficient and friendly, thank you Ziggi.
There were no queues at the bar and we were served by a very helpful
barman who was always smiling.
Reception staff were friendly and efficient.
The Norbreck has some negative pionts;
the 2 bedrooms we used were in desperate need of a refurb.
there is no longer any entertainment on a Sunday night but Bay Hotels do offer guests board games ! Monopoly or Scabble- WOW.
The negatives are in no way a reflection on the staff of the Norbreck,
who work extreemly hard within the parameters set by Bay Hotels.
To sum up- it was an enjoyable weekend, very good value, made even better by lovely staff led by Karen who is an excellent manager.
Would we go back - at £89 for 3 nights half board with 4 drinks vouchers
every night, we'd be silly not to.

Just come back from a lovely stay at the Norbreck Hotel. The hotel was warm and comfortable, clean and tidy, but the rooms in need of a bit of a refurb. We travelled with Shearings and the deal included two day trips and four drinks per person per day, great value!
The food was fine, the staff very friendly and great evening entertainment with daniel doing a good job as compere
All in all a good holiday, and we will definetely be revisiting the Norbreck soon !!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a sea view, well worth the extra money

The hotel was warm very comfortable everywhere clean and spotless the staff friendly and obliging, the evening entertainment a high standard with something for everyone.
But the food was not at all appetising often served cold on cold plates, the staff were run off their feet as not enough of them.
The bedroom was kept well stocked with the essentials plenty of tea and coffee, warm with an extra radiator. But the television was very old only the basic channels and they kept jumping so you never knew what was coming on.

Room Tip: The sea view rooms are obviously a bonus but they charge rather a high extra. Also you can book gua...

we had a mid week break with Shearings from 11/2/13 to 15/2/13. I chose this hotel not for its location but based on the largely good reviews it had recieved on trip advisor. On the whole it isn't a bad hotel, but it does have some flaws. For instance our room 209, was a lot smaller than we were used to. But, i am sure rooms are luck of the drawer. The seaview was good, The rooms are not luxurious and outdated but not shabby. You wont be spending much time in therm and you must always keep in mind how little it has cost. However, if you are going to put a TV in the room, it should be an upto date one, The 14" portable we had would be ok in the 1980's or 90's but the standard these days is a flat screen with satellite/freeview, which is what i have had in rooms i have stayed in for the last 5-6 years. The bed was comfortable with crisp clean sheets and ther bathroom was adequate. The real let down was how cold it was in the room. I am not exagerating to say the cold air hit us when we opened the door to go into the room. The radiator did work but seemed to go hot and cold randomly throughout the night. The last night we were there the radiator was boiling hot so maybe the problem was fixed. It did seem to be the experience of most the guests we spoke to. The windows in the room were very old single glazed units so it could be poor insulation and draughts that made it so cold. Money needs to be spent. However, the last Bay hotel we stayed at in Durham was also very cold, so it may be company policy to retrict the heating.
On the plus side, all commom areas were warm and comfortably furnished. The food was above average, plentyful and piping hot. The restaurant staff were polite and obliging. The entertainment was of a very high standard and well worth staying for, especially if you have the 4 free drinks package.
If you stay there you have probably have gone there with Shearings. The coaches are comfortable and well equipped withn excellent and knowledgable drivers. You have to accept the last leg of your journey on the feeder coach will take ages and there will be periods of hanging around. Overall though an excellent value holiday with easily remedied negative points.

Room Tip: all rooms seem to be seaview. Go for the inclusive packages and book as late as you cab as the price...

We stayed at the Bay Norbreck for a break for my birthday weekend and it was brilliant, the room was basic but had everything you needed, the bathroom light was flickering on and off so we called down to Reception who sorted the problem straight away, the food was wonderful but what made this the best it could be was the staff, I have never stayed anywhere where the staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough for you, the Reception staff, bar staff and night porters were great as was the waiting staff and Daniel who run the entertainment was just the loveliest person ever, he made my birthday special, we had a fantastic time and will definitely be returning in the future! We booked the trip through Shearings which was brilliant from leaving home to returning home, we had a day trip to York on the Saturday and an offer of a day trip to Whitby on the Sunday, the driver was lovely and helpful, all in all this was a trip we will definitely be repeating, we met some great people which we will be staying in touch with, all in all it was a wonderful break away.

Room Tip: Request a room with a sea view!

The Norbreck is badly in need of refurbishment. The rooms are shabby with old blankets and bedspreads which have not been changed in years. The sheets however were pristine. The views over the bay are amazing, albeit viewed through mouldy and rickety windows and frames. We have stayed at the Norbreck on several occasions over the years and our reason for frequent return visits is the talented Daniel Defoe who excuded professionalism and is the warmest friendliest host one could hope for. To lose Daniel from this hotel would be hotel suicide as like ourselves he is the reason for return visits of many guests. Sadly a popular act has been axed, namely that of Chris Fields who added humour and diversity in his unique impersonation of popular celebrities past and present with his unique personal presentation.
