“Good budget hotel with brilliant staff”
Reviewed March 3, 2014

We came back yesterday from the Rivelyn, we had a great weekend made even better by the friendly staff especially Louise, Caitlin and Becky. This is a budget hotel in the middle of refurbishment and is good value for money. Our room although in need of a of updating and maybe a couple of touches like a full length mirror and new furniture, was large with a great big 6 foot bed that was lovely and comfortable. There is an issue with the heating it goes off during the day and makes the room cold although we did have an extra heater or 2 given when we asked. The breakfast is continental but I really enjoyed it plenty of choice even scotch pancakes and crumpets. The staff are brilliant can't do enough for you, so friendly I feel like we made new friends. We will definitely be returning.

Evening live entertainment and the friendly owner gave it a B&B feeling otherwise pretty big establishment, location wise perfect. 10 min walk from station/bus stop and 7 mins from super markets. Continental breakfast was adequate. Although heating was an issue in our room (may be some of the rooms) due to an on going refurbishment. Booked via booking.com

My partner & I stayed here & enjoyed a night in Scarborough. We were greeted by friendly staff who were very helpful.
We returned the following week, this time with our daughter & again we had an enjoyable stay.

Whilst we didn't spend much time in the hotel, the staff were really accomodating, on our second stay we only initially booked for one night before deciding to stay another & they gave us the room at a discounted rate (despite it already been great value).

The breakfast is ok, plenty of choice as regards cereal, fruit etc, the lack of a full english would be disappointing for many but if that is what you want, then there are plenty of places in town.

The bar is great, stocked with guest ales if that is your thing & a very decent range of bottled beers & lagers.

Overall, a decent place to stay & I won't hesitate booking there again. Thanks again.

Myself and my partner stayed here for one night on Saturday 22nd Feb.
On arrival we were greeted by a friendly lady on reception. We were given the key to room 108. This was at the front of the hotel overlooking the road outside. The room had twin beds (this was the only type we could book on booking.com). The room was freezing. There was a flat screen tv, however the decor was very dated and the furniture was falling apart. We had no hot water either. I'll be honest, I wanted to leave and go home.
My partner went to complain at reception and was originally told we could have a heater. This obviously wouldnt help the no hot water situation!! We were given the keys to room 104 and moved rooms.
Room 104 was lovely. It had hot water, the heating was on and there wss a double bed. There was seaside pictures on the wall and it was so much more welcoming than the other room.
There was lots of noise from outside which woke us up as there is a bar/pub opposite! This however is not the hotels fault.
We used the bar on an evening which was very resonably priced and served some lovely real ales which pleased my partner no end!! There was a young girl singing who was only 15 and she was amazing!! Well worth sitting and watching.
Breakfast was good....choices of cereals and porrige, fruit, tea, coffee, Juice, toast and preserves. It was nice to have this at breakfast for a change rather than a full english.
Overall our stay was pleasant. We would stay here again as its comfortable and good value for money.

Me and my wife and our dog stayed here in Feb. We had B&B for 2 adults for a fantastic grand price of £29. Yes £29.
Room had a big LCD TV, was clean, had en suite. Breakfast was a help yourself continental style breakfast. Plenty of choice, even had Waburtons crumpets too.
Hotel is on South Cliff, only a few mins from Town centre and only 2 mins walk from Esplanade.
Staff were friendly,a nd even us arriving late was not a problem, our keys was there waiting ans the night girl in the bar was lovely, so we decided to stay in bar and have a drink.

My wife and I stayed here for two nights and we were amazed at the value for money. We were a little worried that it was not going to be very good because of the price, how wrong were we !!!!! the hotel was lovely. A very warm welcome was given to us on arrival and nothing was too much trouble for Linda or her staff.
Our room was spacious and spotlessly clean. The bed was one of the most comfortable ones we have slept in It had a large flat screen TV and Wi-Fi
Breakfast was great plenty of choice and very relaxed and a lovely lady on hand to help you if needed.
the bar is nice with again lots of choices to drink including real ale.
overall a fabulous stay we will be back soon
Thank you Linda

Room Tip: room 101 very nice

We stayed for 1 night in this property and for the price we paid it was good value. The bedroom was basic but was very clean and had a fab TV. The continental breckie was enough for us as we are not bothered about full English. There was entertainment in the bar which was excellent the young girl was very talented. Only thing I would mention is we are light sleepers and our room at the front of hotel and the bar over the road was a little loud with a bit of bass kicking - not the hotels fault but I would have requested a quieter room if I was staying longer and I am sure they would have sorted as they were so helpful.
