This hotel is a classic elegant seaside hotel at the end of the Esplanade on Sidmouth sea front.
Service in the bar and dining room is faultless with food to the highest standard with my favourite melba toast on the table each evening.
Standards all around the hotel are high which is also expected of the guests with jackets and ties required for men when dining, this was not particularly comfortable when we stayed during a very warm spell in July.
We have visited this hotel each year since 1989 and have never been disappointed with our stay.
In the early years, the staff benefited from the training given by the then Manager Adrian Dennis and this quality of service has been maintained ever since. Certain members of staff are still loyal
to the Brend Group and are able to welcome you back each year in a friendly manner by name.
The hotels position is unrivalled on the seafront and the grounds are always in pristine condition.
The rooms are spacious with queen beds in many rooms although upgrades are still in progress.
The quality of service cannot be faulted and it is this hotel by which others need to be compared.
Traditional breakfast is waiter service whilst diner is five course with an excellent choice of meats,
fish etc.
Although the clientele are mostly the older generation, it was noted that this year that there were less children staying during our visit. This was dissapointing as the Management Team led by Tim Beauchamp try to arrange activities for children during school holidays.Tim is also seen in the restaurant helping others and taking wine orders etc.
The Bar and lounge area is well supervised by Stuart ( another long standing employee ) - when guests arrive, they are attended to almost immmediately.
Ample residents parking at the front of the hotel monitored at peak times by the concierage staff.
It would be hard to fault this hotel and many would say that it's standards are what other hotels should strive to achieve.
Folk week once again bought us to Sidmouth, the food was fabulous, probably the best ever, lunch in the garden was also lovely. The gardens are fantastic a credit to the hotel. Lovely location perfect for walking into town.

We were in Sidmouth for the Folk Festival, and everything about the hotel exceeded our expectations. All the staff were friendly and helpful; the room was spacious and airy; location central for the esplanade .We were served breakfast, a rare experience nowadays!
I didn't find the refreshment tray until the end of our stay, so we enjoyed wonderful teas downstairs, much better!

My family have asked me to thank all the staff for making my Mother in Law's birthday celebration such a special occasion. Nothing was too much trouble, the meal was a delight and the service faultless. Being a traditional hotel you adapted to the five young children and made them welcome too. Perhaps we will back for her 100th, I hope so.

Thoroughly enjoyed our week at the Belmont. Very traditional which suited my friend and I, two widows! The staff were all excellent, plenty of them and all very helpful. The wonderful weather this week just encouraged us to sit and enjoy the hotel, the seagulls stealing ones lunch being the only problem; we had to be very vigilant but the waiters were to hand to shoo them away.
My only complaint was the size of my single room,312, which was very small. Having a sea view these are in the deluxe price range. I feel there should be a price reduction for the room size. Also with the hot weather this week the room was very hot and could at least have done with portable fan.
