We are just back from a superb week in Simouth, and what a great choice we made in choosing Seagull Cottage. The location was ideal in the centre of Town, but off the main high street. So was handy for everything Sidmouth has to offer. The bakers just round the corner, along with the bank. The Swan pub i counted 55 paces away. Serving good pub grub. A real local pub with beer garden, we ate there 3 evenings. There is so much on offer in and around Sidmouth i couldnt put them all down here. Recomend the Cricket club, non members welcome, with food and drinks overlooking the seafront superb.
Seagull iCottage is very well done, the detail is second to non, couldnt have wanted for more, well done.

“A beautiful cottage, centrally located.”

After some difficulty with our balance payment going through Sweetcombe Cottage Holidays and not Paypal we were relieved on arrival at Seagull Cottage to find that it was beautifully presented, having been refurbished to a very high standard. (The road is one way from Fore Street, not York Street as recommended.) The goodies left for us were very welcome. The kitchen was extremely well equipped and a pleasure to be in.

We may have been unlucky but we were only left half a kitchen roll and no spares, and half a toilet roll, also no spares. The light in the bathroom cabinet did not work as there was no bulb and the bathroom blind needed refixing as it would not work. Fortunately the back of the property is not overlooked. The toilet cleaner bottle was empty. We did not expect to have to do that kind of shopping when only staying a week and were disappointed in having to do so.

A non-slip rubber mat for the bath when using the shower would be appreciated, and also some cushions for the armchairs and sofa for comfort. These are small matters but would make a difference.

The cottage was very centrally located - about two minutes to the high street/Fore Street. Between May and September a free 'Hopper' bus picks up outside the swimming pool/Tourist Information Office in York Street, around the corner from Russell Street, which goes to Mutters Moor in Jacob's Ladder direction, and to the Donkey Sanctuary in the other direction. Stay on it to do the round trip. The Swan pub in York Street is good for basic meals, and we would recommend 'Trumps' (Fore Street) for Welsh rarebit lunch, and 'The Pea Green Boat' (Esplanade) for a more sumptuous meal.

If you are not driving it is easy to get buses to Buddleigh Salterton, Seaton and Exeter etc. from 'The Triangle' five minutes from the cottage.

My husband who is registered blind found both Seagull Cottage and Sidmouth itself to be relatively easy to get around, with guidance, and we would thoroughly recommend both.
