This is a lovely B&B with themed rooms. Lin and Alan are very welcoming and the breakfast is fab! We will be visiting Sidmouth again this year to see family and this will the 4th time we have stayed in the B&B. The off road parking is a bonus as Parking in Sidmouth can be difficult or you have to pay high parking charges. The Groveside is located with a 5 minute walk into the centre of town.

I would highly recommend the Groveside.

I have just returned from spending 10 nights in at the Groveside Guest House in Sidmouth. Again, my stay was superb.
This time I tried the porridge….it is to die for…..the breakfasts’ are just wonderful, served with a friendly smile and professionalism.
While I was there Alan had a medical emergency. Alans’ wife Lin, was just marvellous, shuffling the business and visiting Alan in hospital, arranging for help etc, while Alan was hospitalized.
Their staff is just wonderful. My room (Henrys) was just lovely. Had a lovely bay window which looked out upon the main road. I did not have any problems with the sound of traffic. The décor was beautifully done by Lin. She is a gem when it comes to decorating.
Tea and coffee are provided in the rooms, and fresh milk is available. Lovely sitting, drinking coffee, and looking out the window in the mornings.
I would like to thank Alan and Lin for the lovely stay, and the bonus of staying in Henrys Room. Thank you so much.
I will see you sometime in May 2013.

'Groveside' is beautifully positioned so its only a few minutes from the town and a few more minutes to the sea front and eating places. Buses run past the house so most places are accessible especially Exeter. 'Groveside' is very friendly, very clean, comfortable, good food and parking. What more can you ask for?

This B&B is a gem. We have just stayed here for a couple of nights. Really warm welcome with a pot of tea! Both our rooms were beautifully decorated with lots of nice touches - most welcome after an indifferent stay at a Travelodge at Amesbury the night before! Breakfasts were well cooked and presented and the porridge was to die for! I would really recommend this lovely B&B to others - but would advise booking well ahead - understandably - it was full of contented guests!

The Groveside is very convenient for everything in Sidmouth, and it's good to have off-road parking. Our room was warm and cosy, the bathroom fine, although a little on the small side, because it was under the eaves, and the breakfast was copious and well cooked, with plenty of choice. Alan and Lin were friendly and helpful, and the house was clean and welcoming, with a comfortable guest lounge.
Maybe we've been spoilt by the B&Bs we have stayed in abroad, where home made cakes were the norm, but it would have been nice to have been welcomed in the lounge with a tray of tea and something tasty rather than having to make our own in the room, where there was a very small biscuit, and one day not even that. However the tray was very well stocked with tea, coffee etc and we appreciated the fresh milk in the guest fridge, and Lin was happy to store cream in her kitchen fridge for us.
I can see why people return to the Groveside and would certainly recommend it to friends.

Room Tip: The rooms at the back are quieter, but on the top floor you are under the eaves.

Thank you very much for your kind comments about the Groveside though I think timing must have had something to do with the lack of tea and cakes on arrival. Please nudge us when you book again and I shall make sure there will be some delightful nibbles on a tray waiting for you. We are going to provide additional biscuits and other complimentary treats in a special place on the landing for this year, hopefully this will avoid the problem of our guests not having ample extras when they need them.. Thank you again for taking the trouble to write a review it was very much appreciated

Sidmouth is a really superb Victorian era resort & The Groveside Guest House is a very comfortable place to stay & be pampered. The hosts were extremely welcoming & our stay had one fault - it was too short! Great care is taken looking after guests & the breakfasts are great! The front promenade at Sidmouth is a short but interesting walk through the park & over the local ford.

We stayed at the Groveside for 5 nights at the beginning of September and were very happy there. We love Sidmouth and have stayed in other B&Bs in the town and the Groveside compares very favourably.
We had particularly requested a rear room and,on booking we were told that the room (Park Room - a twin room at the rear of the house) was up two flights of stairs. Lin checked that this was ok for us and agreed that they would help us with our luggage. [Our cases were carried up on arrival and down again on departure].
Lovely room with everything we needed and a great choice at breakfast. I'm not a great fan of the 'Full English' and so had Fresh fruit salad followed by scrambled egg with mushrooms and a grilled tomato (all beautifully cooked and served) with granary bread and fruit juice or coffee.
We also had an evening meal on one occasion and this was also delicious and good value (Lamb shanks and fresh vegetables followed by a home-made apple pie and cream).
Our host Alan made us feel very welcome - Lin was mostly busy 'behind the scenes' but had been very helpful when I was making the booking originally.
Vicarage Road is a very handy location for the town of Sidmouth, being only a short and level walk away from the main shops and the seafront and the Groveside has very good parking facilities.
Thank you Alan and Lin for a lovely stay - we will definitely be booking with you again.

Room Tip: The Park Room (continental twin) is on the top floor rear and has views over the Byes and even to th...
