Owner description: The Radway opened in 1928 and was planned to operate primarily as a theatre. As a live theatre it quickly failed and was soon altered to better accommodate cinema use.Whilst the building enjoyed a very thorough refurbishment in 1999 care was taken to do this as sympathetically as possible in order to retain its early 30’s charm.Digital Projection, 3D and Sound was recently been added.

I love the Radway. Half the price of most cinemas but twice the quality...... you even get free 3D glasses on loan.
Coming here is always an event. Not least because the staff are so friendly and helpfull. They often dress up to match the theme of the latest films !
The seats are very comfortable, especially the luxury ones upstairs, and I like the way you can take cups of tea & coffee, or even a glass of wine into the theatre. Best of all is on the quieter nights being asked your opinion on the film you have just watched by the manageress as you leave.

“Classic Viewing”
Reviewed November 7, 2013

You cannot beat this cinema for comfort and old style viewing. Just like the old days only smarter. You can keep all your multiplexes, enjoy a nice cup of coffee in the lounge upstairs or take it in with you to have at a table by your seat.

“Ravishingly Retro”
Reviewed October 30, 2013

The seats, the footrest ledge at the back of the stalls. Thei little bistro cafe/snack area upstairs. The retro toilet facilities - everything about the place incl. the friendly staff, spec the Manageress. The cinema has a familiar and comforting feel and atmosphere as it hasn't been modernised, love the staircase.

“Super old fashioned cinema”
Reviewed September 24, 2013

Excellent old fashioned cinema. Nice comfy seats, plenty of leg room and no viewing problems. Much more personal than the new multiplex cinemas of today.

“Love it!”
Reviewed September 22, 2013

When holidaying in Sidmouth, we were telling a young lad in our local Spar, "we went to the cinema here last night", he replied: "what, the Radway? Its a bit retro isn't it?" But that's just the point! Its Brilliant. You can take a small tray of coffee into the back seat upstairs and there is a small table at the side of you to put it on! You don't get that is in your Multiscreens! It was about seven pound odd for the expensive seats each, lots of leg room and just love it!
