“Great friendly pub”
Reviewed September 10, 2013

Had a meal here on our recent visit to Sidford, this is a very friendly, no nonsense, village pub with a good menu and very good food. The young waitress who served us was a delight and very helpful, would not hesitate to recommend.

“Pleasant pub with good value meals.”
Reviewed June 14, 2013

Waitress was rather indifferent but food was good and served quickly. The menu was varied with a good choice. My partner recommends the Steak and Ale Pie.

“Not very good!”
Reviewed May 7, 2013 via mobile

My family and I went to the Rising Sun on Sunday evening.
We ordered vegetable lasagnes, beef lasagne, ham egg and chips and garlic bread.
We waited nearly one hour for the food and when it did arrive the portions were very small and the chips were cold!
I asked for hot chips which we had 2 bowls brought out to us just as we were finishing our meal!
When we went to pay, we did say that we were very disappointed with the meal but nothing was done but they would pass the comments on to the chef!
They were extremely busy as it was Bank Holiday weekend but even so, hot chips and bigger portions would be good!

“Saturday lunchtime what a meal!”
Reviewed October 21, 2012

Came here with my family for lunch; we had the two course menu for £8.50 of a main and a sweet. We all selected fish and chips and the food was well cooked and presented but we could have done with some more chips on the plate. The dessert was a choice of two good old English dishes and was OK. Service was good, the choice of beers on offer was great. Will I go back there? Yes!!!

“Good food, nice atmosphere”
Reviewed October 20, 2012

We enjoyed the food at The Rising Sun. The mushroom stroganoff was very tasty. The outside of the pub is very inviting and the atmosphere good inside. Just one thing - please, please get rid of those dreadful circular Argos-style tables and chairs which look completely out of keeping with such an old pub. Also the white flowers in jars which look as if they come from a funeral parlour. The modern stuff needs to be replaced with old pictures, furniture, ornaments etc and then the pub would look just great. We will definitely go back especially on a live-music night.
