“Great Hotel !”
Reviewed November 8, 2012

Just come back from a 2 night stay with parents. Fantastic hotel with real character ! Real good old fashioned service throughout the hotel. Good location about 100 metres from the sea.
Hope to stay there again sometime.

We stayed at the Royal Glen for 7 days in early Oct 12; we (that is, my H and myself and his 91 year old mother) have stayed there in previous years. It is an excellent, small hotel with friendly staff who go out of their way to help. The staff were always ready to assist with the needs of my mother in law. The food is first rate, fresh vegs, reasonable choice each evening. The puddings are out of this world: everything an English pudding should be and more. There is also a new masseuse (Susan) who has magic hands.
I recommend this hotel for middle-aged and older people.

Room Tip: I don't know about this. If you are offered the bread and butter pudding or the crumble, take it...

Very pretty strawberry gothic hotel in lovely location close to sea. Old fashioned service by which I mean excellent! Very quiet and understated. Food was good but not adventurous and the regency drawing room was a delight. Don't change it ever! Had the pool to myself for a morning swim..hotel bar decor could do with updating. Nice room with all conveniences but not modern generic furniture thank goodness.. Think I brought down the average age of the clientele considerably without revealing my age but I do have a grown up son! No consequence to me but I probably wouldn't bring younger, noisier members of my family here to disturb the peace. Great retreat for adults. Would definitely visit again.

Having a well cooked veggie breakfast to the sounds of the Dam Busters March is the memorable moment of our recent 4 day break. Quirky and old fashioned; but such a relief from the plastic, same old, same old usual hotels. Staff attentive, but not overly so, recpetion really helpful. They even remembered my parents having regular Sunday Lunch there in the early 1990's, and welcomed them back on a visit. Tremendous. Go and see for yourself, and save this real treasure.

Room Tip: We had an upgraded room on the second floor, well worth the extra.

Just back from a long weekend at this Hotel. Its in a good location very near the seafront, being a listed building its very quirky and old fashioned but quite lovely in its own way.. Lovely drawing room for reading papers etc, and a nice little garden to enjoy a G & T. We were originally in what was a "budget" room, which although small and a bit tired was clean and comfortable and would have been fine for us, unfortunatley the shower didnt work and the bath was very difficult to get out of. They were unable, obviously, to fix the shower there and then and so moved us to a standard room, no trouble no fuss. This faced the carpark but was still quiet and quiet large - with a shower that worked! We used the pool which was nice, were a bit disappointed with the gym - no treadmill. The staff were nice a friendly, good choice for breakfast and although we didnt have dinner in the hotel again looked a good choice. We would go back again, thought it was quite good value for money, but would be more particular when choosing a room. All in all a good weekend break.

Great location a level walk for the town and beach. Quirky rooms, we found a gem this time though I'm not sharing which one or I won't be able to book it again. lift access means it is suitable for those with limited mobility.
Meal times are a real treat and having our 'own' table means we have neighbours to discuss our day. Charming. Variety of menu is excellent and nothing too much trouble for all the staff.
Therapy room beautiful and Susan the therapist very competent - a most enjoyable massage.
Swimming pool a peaceful way to end the day - or begin it - to work off the wonderful breakfast.
