Description: The Clock Tower cafe & restaurant stands in an unrivalled position within the award winning Connaught Gardens, Sidmouth on the stunning Jurassic south coast of East Devon. 27 years on from humble beginnings the Clock Tower has remained a family-owned business, we are very proud of our excellent reputation for quality service and delicious, freshly prepared food.

My husband and I visited the Clock Tower for lunch on Easter Saturday with our disabled sister and brother-in-law. We had previously popped into the cafe to see if we could book a table on the ground floor with sufficient room for them to sit comfortably and with easy access to the toilets. The staff were incredibly helpful. During the visit the service was exceptional despite the staff being incredibly busy. The lady who looked after us really 'went the extra mile' to ensure that the whole visit was a most enjoyable experience. She brought the specials board down from upstairs and took our orders at the table including for teas and coffees after the meal. We would like to thank everyone for their kindness and consideration.

This cliff top cafe at the top of the Connaught Gardens is open 10 til 5, breakfast served until 12, then lunches until 2.30. Good range of light snacks/lunches/cakes. Window seats give great view of Jacob's Ladder, the beach or the Connaught Gardens. This is a basic no frills cafe but excellent value with fabulous quality and huge portions! The sitting out area in fine weather (not therefore available today!) is within walled part of Connaught Gardens so well sheltered from prevailing winds. Pot of Tea for one, with plenty of milk and hot water is fantastic value at £1.70, and with choice of teas, including decaff. option.
My only negative comment is that the premises are tired and badly in need of a refurbishment, including the toilets. But service was efficient and very friendly.

We often stop here for a bite to eat. The service is second to none. We very soon learnt our lesson and share a sandwich and a cake as the portions are huge. Lovely surroundings. Very busy in the summer months but plenty of seating outside if the weather is good. Haven't had a cooked meal here so can't comment but they do look delicious.

We went in for a light lunch and couldn't believe how great the sandwiches are. Best sandwich I have ever had anywhere. Staff are friendly and helpful. Bread is delicious and fillings are generous and also delicious. They came with a side salad which was fresh and tasty. Excellent service, superb food! thank you.

We make a point of popping in to this coffee at least one a year for its exceedingly generous portions of delicious cake. I never share food but even I can't finish off a whole slice of cake their portions are so huge. It's certainly well worth the walk up the hill, although with the calories consumed you feel guilty about the downhill walk on the way back.
