The second time we've stayed here and even better than before. Sidmouth is a wonderful old seaside town with bags of character - and the Elizabeth lies at the heart of that. We received a great welcome which set the tone for an excellent experience. The hotel is a classic rambling old hotel but nicely adapted to the modern era. We had a seaview room with balcony and great views of the promenade and the sea. There was always something to watch. The free guest parking is a big plus in this busy town that was built long before the car.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view

Had a very nice stay with our parents. Very helpful and friendly staff, looked after us well and you always felt they meant it. Easy access. Free teas and coffee which the old ones loved (anything for a bargin :))
Would highly recommend.

Room Tip: A little noisy on the side rooms, if yuo don't have a sea view I'd plump for a rear facing r...

Excellent location on the sea front with guest parking the Elizabeth is a terrific hotel.. The staff were very attentive and helpful, especially with elderly guests.
Clean and bright rooms, ( ours was an east side with lovely views of Lyme bay towards Charmouth).
A cosy bar and excellent food( Dinner and a very comprehensive breakfast)
We would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: An east side room affords views of sea and cliffs above town

We have stayed here many times usually over one of the May bank holidays, taking advantage of offers four nights for the price of three. Again excellent food, staff very helpful. Very nice room with sea views and balcony not that we used much this time due to the rain. Visited Forde Abbey house and gardens near Chard about 45 minutes by car well worth a visit.

Room Tip: Book a car space in advance

This sweet hotel right on the seafront has such welcoming and kind service that we left with a warm glow. Over our 2 night stay I witnessed extreme helpfulness in all the staff, and was touched to see Alan going out of his way to gently help some of the elderly guests, of which there were many. With my 87 year old mother we were hardly out of place, and she was over the moon with her room, no 28, which was sunny and where she could sit overlooking both the shops and the seafront. The dinner was excellent and portions just right and a nice touch is complimentary morning coffee, and afternoon tea with little cakes. If I have to find something to improve, I'd suggest they offfer one or two better wines (the sauvignon blanc at £18.50 was the most expensive white on the menu but not particularly good), and change the flowers on the tables more frequently as dead bluebells are not conducive to appetite. The hotel has the cutest little old lift which only holds two people and a small bag, but worked very well. I have no idea why this small hotel is ranked 11 out of 12 on tripadvisor, yet has a 93% recommendation rate. It's owned by the same people as the no 1 ranked Kingswood and Deveron, next door. I would happily return, but if you are under 70 you may wish to find somewhere trendier. It's a very good 3 star hotel and I would normally rank it a good 4, or 4.5 if I could. However I give it 5 due to the superb service from the lovely staff.

Room Tip: If you can't get a sea view, room 28 is a lovely room with a huge window and a side seaview. N...

Thank you for the review and we are pleased you enjoyed your stay. We are all open and welcoming to all!

We always have alternative wines in our sister businesses next door so we could always rustle up an alternative if you so wish!

Glad our staff looked after you so well!

I stayed here for two nights as part of a field trip for work. As far as i'm concerned, this hotel ticked all the right boxes. Clean and bright rooms, friendly and helpful staff and perfect location; right on the seafront. Quite simply, i cannot fault it. I'd happily stay there again.
