First visit to The Kingswood & Devoran Hotel. Though this 2 star hotel offers a warm and friendly atmosphere in a well presented environment there we elements that we found slightly disappointing.

Initial contact with hotel and booking arrangement was faultless, so was the welcome and the friendly porter who helped with luggage to our room. We could also not fault the daily room housekeeping. The Hotel with its sea front location was very clean and well presented, and the recent refurbishment complimented the character of the building.

Our room was a reasonable size, well furnished with plenty of storage space with a front facing aspect and sea view. Unfortunately there was no base valance on the bed consequently the bed divan was exposed displaying its fitting, there was a missing bed divan castor so the bed tilted slightly to one side, curtains did not close fully due broken/missing curtain hooks and the en-suite shower room door, consisting of a pair of 15inch bi-folding louver doors with a stained ply backing, refused to close properly as there was insufficient closing and securing door furniture.

Breakfast menu and choice was as good as any 3-4 star hotel, and though the evening meal was enjoyable and adequate the fixed dish of vegetables accompanied the main meal irrespective of order. The food was always well presented on hot plates and in general was of good quality. Meal times were only 1 hour and though the dinning room staff were very friendly and efficient they appeared to be on a mission – feed you, clear the dishes and relay the table – all a little rushed.

This is a well presented 2 star holiday hotel in an excellent location and caters very well to its mature client base.

Five of us stayed for 3 nights half board in May.The hotel has been renovated since our last visit with the public areas and bedrooms greatly improved. The size, deccor & view from the rooms do vary. Our room was very spacious with 2 tiny balcony's and a stunning view.Rooms do have tea making facilities and freeview tv.
There is a good varied breakfast menu cooked freshly to order. The 5 course evening meals are excellent with good choice and good service.Complimentary morning coffee and afternoon tea are also provided with biscuits !
The hotel is situated on the sea front and just minutes away from the shops/garden attractions.
The hotel is family run with a personal and friendly atmosphere/service
An ideal hotel for mature guests
