“Good as a base for surronding area”
Reviewed June 24, 2007

We stayed there for 2 nights as we went to a wedding in the area. We were upgraded to an executive room but wouldn't have paid £125 for it per night. One light didn't work and they forgot to give us towels on the second day. The room was clean with comfy bed and had air conditioning. Had a meal in the restaurant which was good.
Is a good base for exploring the area...about £5 taxi fare to the centre of slough.
Underground car park was fine..had CCTV in it.
There is scaffolding on one side of the hotel. We were on the 8th floor and would have had good views if it wasn't there.
All in all an average hotel.

I had not been told that the Marriott was now a Holiday Inn and it took a long while to find the hotel and with jet lag this was quite an ordeal.

It was Ascot weekend and the hotel was full and very busy. The hotel has been refurbished and was looking very good. Our room was miniscule but clean. The staff were all very polite and attentive.

Noise levels from adjacent rooms was high with televisions blaring and also from outside from people talking and shouting.

The breakfast provided a good range of food but it was all self service even getting tea and coffee which meant that there were long queues and the dining room is very small in comparison to the size of the hotel.Inappropriate music is playing which competed with the noise of chatter.

I had room service which was quick and tasty and my husband ate in the restaurant which he said was good but could have done without Tom Jones singing!!

It is an excellent family hotel and ok for a stop over for the airport but that is it as it lacks atmospere.

This was a "quick" 2-day Easter weekend getaway at the Courtyard slough. Their website www.marriott.co.uk had a "Courtyard 2-for-1 offer" (stay 2 nights for 1 price) and so I decided to give it a go. The hotel was full to the brim since parents could take their kids to Legoland for fun. Overall, great enjoyable stay. From inside the rooms, its just like a regular Marriott, at a significantly affordable price. The rooms were immaculate, the bathrooms were sparkling clean, and almost everything was "working". However, I had a problem with the TV remote not working, and called Reception. They immediately sent an associate to my room and offered to replace the batteries.

Moving on, the morning breakfast was superb. Fresh, hot scrambled eggs and a delicious selection of various fruit salads and more. Upon request, fried eggs/poached eggs are available. Not sure about omeletts since I didn't bother to inquire. Due to the weekend hotel deals as well as Legoland time, the restaurant was packed in the mornings during breakfast. However, the associates tried their best to allocate all the hotel guests a seat.

Now for the not-so-delicious part - dinner. Honestly speaking, the dinner menu was horrible (yes, horrible), not to mention mind-blowingly expensive. For a £5 entree/appetiser, u get a small "morsel" in your plate that can easily be gulped down in one bite. Absolutely ridiculous!!! However, I had purchased the dinner inclusive option package for the 2 nights, so I was better off using it. The next night, I ordered an Indian dish on their menu - Vegetable Korma - absolutely tasteless. It tasted as if it had been cooked in water. Trust me, I dine at various Indian restaurants regularly and know on the tip of my tongue what korma should taste like. And the price for the "Vegetable Korma with rice and a poppadam" - £10.95. Honestly, the hotel needs to do something about its menu (or should I say chefs).

Overall, if you are looking for a place to relax for a weekend, I would recommend the hotel. But you better make it quick, since effective May 1 2007, all Courtyard by Marriott hotels in the UK (not sure about those in the USA) will change to Holiday Inn hotels.

We stayed at the Courtyard By Marriott Hotel in September 2003.

Our travel plans included a daytime flight from the US with a 10 PM arrival at Heathrow. As we were headed towards Wales we wanted a decent hotel not too far from the airport for our first overnight in the UK.

We arrived at the auto rental location at almost midnight after the arrival formalities. The Slough Courtyard is luckily only 10 minutes west of Heathrow at junction 6 on the M4. The hotel has easy access to the motorway and Slough proper. We parked in the hotel's covered car park albeit at extra cost.

Even at our late hour of arrival check in was friendly and efficient. Accommodations were clean and what you'd expect for this Marriott brand.

  • Liked — Easy access from motorway and Heathrow
  • Disliked — No complaints
  • Tips/Secrets — Be sure you have the right Marriott - this is the Courtyard!

After staying in London and then Coventry and knowing we had a flight out of Gatwick we decided to drive at least to Slough the night before, so we wouldn't have so far to drive to the airport. We had a bunch of trouble finding it, (to be honest it wasn't easy for us to find anything driving in the UK for the first time!) However knowing we were close, we called the concierge/manager? at the hotel. He was awesome. He calmly asked for our number to call us back so we wouldn't be charged for the call and then calmly asked us for landmarks. He knew exactly where we were and guided us straight to the hotel! Nice! The lobby isn't much, but the hotel room looked as if we were the first people to ever stay in it. It was pristine! Also it was cool, comfortable and quiet, nice bar area-- just what we wanted after walking around Oxford all day. The surrounding area is a bit seedy but with all the close attractions and access to the highway who cares. Great and reasonable Indian food about a 1/2 mi. down the street!

Stayed a Friday night before visiting Legoland on the Saturday - like most of the other guests. Good size family room with two proper beds - not a sofa bed. Room was quiet and furnished as you would expect. Reasonably priced room.

The car park had a barrier entry and CCTV but did not appear that secure (see other people's comments). There was glass on the floor of the carpark in two places.

Breakfast was very busy - be early. There was not enough room for all to be seated but we were told to expect a 10 minute wait and it was less than that. The staff worked very hard to move people through breakfast and were happy to get things that were not readily available. Whilst the breakfast was a buffet breakfast like most hotels, the food was actually very tasty and was well worth a second trip before a full day at Legoland.

The hotel was of a good standard as stated in other reviews below. Breakfast was very slow beacause it was half term and everyone was there for Legoland. The breakfast room was not big enough and the queues were very long at times. Evening meals were very slow to arrive at your table and many things that people wanted were not available.

This hotel suffers from regular attacks on guests cars despite CCTV in the car park. We were there for 2 nights and had our car broken into on the 2nd night along with 6 other cars - windows smashed - luckily we did not leave any valuables inside but the experience costs us £60 insurance excess and a wasted day whilst waiting for repairs to be done. The police said that such incidents were extremely common at this hotel. The hotel is situated 2 minutes walk from one of the roughest council estates you will ever see (Chalvey) which has had racial riots during the last year. If you value the safety of your car you would be wise not to stay here. Be warned !
