“A real gem!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 11, 2012

I pulled into The Brocket Arms after spending a long day on the road and was welcomed with a smile by Bhupen who carried my case across to room 7 in their annex.

Really well appointed room with TV, tea & coffee and a very comfortable bed.

The bar had 6 real ales on tap and the food in the evening was fantastic.

Great nights sleep, followed by a really good breakfast, again all served with a smile.

I will be visiting The Brocket Arms again in the not too distant future.

Stayed here as we were attending a party here. The owner was very nice, very helpful and nothing seemed to much trouble. We had dinner in the restaurant, no frozen chips just a really lovely meal. A big open fire in the bar just what you need to sink in front of after a hearty meal. The room was great, bed and pillows very comfortable, shower hot, usual goodies. Cannot find any fault. The Brocket Arms well exceeded my expectations ! It is also situated in some of the prettiest countryside.

Room Tip: We were in the annex and I did wonder if we might hear people leaving but we were not disturbed at a...

Stopped here for lunch lovely location but food very average for the price charged. It may sound petty but frozen french fries, it doesn't take much effort to make your own. Limited menu for a light lunch, plenty of gastro pubs in the area serving superior food so won't be returning,

Two night stay. Beautiful setting: ideal for walkers and cyclists. Warm welcome from owner and 14th century inn make for a memorable stay. Room in the annex comfortable although shower room on small side. Our first evening was on Monday and normally food is not available. However we were able to enjoy the monthly curry evening cooked by the owner.

Breakfast was excellent.

Hope to visit again.

Short one night stay, great atmosphere in the bar, friendly locals and staff, didn't have dinner but breakfast was excellent. Peaceful location but just a few minutes drive from Welwyn.

Stayed 2 nights at this lovely village pub. Has potential to be superb but attention to detail was missing. Meal in bar - starters came at same time as main course and had to ask for cutlery. The menu is the same as the restaraunt and its not cheap. Portion sizes a little small. Accommodation was nice but on 2nd day, damp towels which we had left on the bathroom floor for changing, were refolded and put on the end of the bed! The bed was a little damp when we returned late therefore! The owners seem to employ youngsters who don't pay enough attention to detail which is a shame as the owners obviously work very hard. We had to specify what time we wanted breakfast before we went to bed the night before which was strange - what if we had wanted a lay in! The tea was served in a cup not a pot and then there was no-one about when another cup was required. The milk for the cereal was left in the plasic 2 pint container. Its these details which make the difference and this is not a cheap option. The recommended taxi service left us waiting over an hour even though we had booked 6 months in advance! (Find your own - don't take recommended from the pub!) and we were soaked to the skin by the time we returned to the pub which was after midnight by then.
Having said all that we had a pleasant stay but found it a bit overpriced for the service we received.
