Tewin Bury Farm Hotel
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed July 31, 2010

An unusual hotel. Tewin Bury remains a working farm which has diversified out into offering hotel rooms, a restaurant and conference/wedding facilities. Very convenient for the main Welwyn Garden City business park - about a 5 minute drive away or a complementary morning or evening shuttle. My room was in the garage of a converted farmhouse a steep walk away from the other buildings. Room was very well fitted out with flat screen TV and separate shower and bath but this is the first time I've slept in a garage. It goes without saying parking immediately outside the room was not a problem! My colleague had to request a clean of her bathroom when she checked in although I had no problems with my room. I agree with earlier TA reviews that the team here should really pull its finger out on breakfasts - if you are staying on a working farm you should expect a full, fresh and locally sourced farmhouse breakfast - the self serve buffet that you actually do find could be served by any large hotel chain. Service was very good especially in the restaurant in the evening and food quality was good.

I stayed here with my family, bridesmaids and wedding guests for my Spring wedding.
Nothing was too much trouble for the reception team, the housekeeping staff or the managers.
The rooms are all different, beautifully clean with amazingly comfortable beds and great bathrooms.
The restaurant food is great, but the breakfast was even better! All you could eat buffet, with great full English.
I did not find the place noisy, nor did I get run over by any tractors (as mentioned in a previous review!

we went to Tewin Bury Farm hotel on the end of the week.
it is like back to 100 years ago.
i nearly died on the car park, roll over by a JCB;
room service: a joke, cold and your wine is cover with clean film. the delais: at list 45 min if they don't forget anything
the next morning i was awack by the same JCB and the garbage....nice....
on top of it the breakfast was poor, dirty, and the welcome...i still waiting.
it is my first and my last visit
thanks but no thanks.

We stayed 1 night in the Tewin Bury farm hotel and we would definately recommend it to anyone. THe bedrooms were gorgeous and the tranquil setting really helps you to unwind. We stayed for Breakfast the next day and it wasn't bad, as with any buffet breakfast sometime things can be a little over done or dried out but it was edible and tasty. Definatelt rate this hotel, we are even considering going back for the New Years Ball.

I got Married in The Stable at Tewin Bury Farm a few weeks ago and wanted to put some feedback on here to let people know what an amazing find it was.

We visited Tewin Bury Farm several times before the big day and every time we ate in the restaurant the food was delicious and the service excellent. The food on our Wedding day did not disappoint either it was truly mouth-watering.

On the day everything happened seamlessly, nothing was too much trouble, the staff pre-empted most things and ensured my now Husband and I had nothing at all to worry about.

The Stable is such a lovely room to get Married in (if you like Stables/Barns, as I do!), and the grounds are beautiful with the river running behind which made the perfect backdrop for photos.

We were lucky to be the only Wedding at Tewin Bury Farm on our Wedding day, but booked knowing there could be other Weddings there, something which we thought might actually be quite nice. I know some people have expressed their concerns about them not being able to keep guests separated however from our experience I would be totally confident in the fact that they are excellent at keeping Wedding parties separate as each room (The Stable, Tythe Barn, Millstream) has its own area, bar and garden so the only time you may bump into someone is in the car park or main bar/restaurant - would that really be the end of the world?!

Having said that breakfast the next morning may get busy if there were 3 Weddings the night before but if you got there early ish or had room service, there would be no problem.

I would recommend this hotel for a weekend break if you asked for a room in a quieter area of the farm, possibly the cottage which is up a short track from the main farm itself and has amazing views - they have their own carriage company which means they are happy to pick you up and drop you off at the cottage at any time of day which takes the hassle away.

Overall Tewin Bury Farm is a lovely venue and worthy of many more raving reviews, it has a lovely feel about it of quality and professionalism and a great reputation - something which it rightly deserves.

I very much look forward to returning.
