5 of us ate here on a Saturday night arrived at 7 and were the 1st there the place itself is in a great location but looks a bit tired inside. The staff were very welcoming and cannot be faulted we all ordered starters, the garlic bread and cheese was according to everyone else was the best they'd ever had, the chicken skewers were superb, the deep fried calamari was shop bought and quite poor the prawns and mushrooms were quite tasty but lacked any presentation this unfortunately was a reoccurring theme throughout the evening. I am not a fan of overly fancy pretentious food but some of the dishes looked like they had been thrown on the plate. The main courses were OK seafood linguine, carbonara, steak one-of the specials and a plate of meze. The meze looked like it had been shop bought then warmed up, apart from the hummus which is outstanding the carbonara was average at best and again looked like it had been thrown on the plate, seafood linguine was very tasty but too much octopus and not enough of the other stuff for me the steak came with a sauce that tasted strangely similar to the one served with the prawn and pepper special. The wine list is quite limited with only 3 reds to choose from We had a bottle of the valpollicella which at £20ish was quite expensive for the quality. Water for the table was bought in glasses rather than a jug and was not chilled..
It worked out about £30 per head which included a couple of beers and soft drinks
I came away feeling slightly disappointed the food is ok but could be so much better with a little attention to detail. I think it needs a proper identity as well, I would struggle to describe it if somebody asked me, Spanish Italian Greek Lebanese ??

We visited La Piazza last night, there were 5 of us and we had booked on line. The hostess welcomed us very warmly like long lost friends - we had been there before and she recognised us which is always really nice. We ordered our food and it came in good time. Everyone enjoyed the started and the mains were even better. I had linguine and polpette which was delicious the sauce was beautiful and just the right sized portion. My. husband had lobster ravioli and his was delicious as well. I would definitely recommend La Piazza - really great!

This is a brilliant little Italian restaurant situated in Goose Green. The food is great, particularly the seafood dishes.

We stopped in on Saturday afternoon whilst waiting for an appointment with our wedding cake supplier. We were warmly greeted and made to feel welcome, the food was excellent and very reasonable - enjoyed by us all.
Had we have not had an appointment with cake we would have enjoyed desert too ! Thanks for your hospitality and we look forward to seeing you again ! Thanks
