“A place where everything's a problem!”

Overpriced with bored, un interested bits of kids for staff... Everything is an extra - I think they'd charge you to breathe the air if they could! Shame there is little other choice for skating - they know this and charge accordingly!

“Go early for public skating - Good for watching Ice Hockey”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 3, 2014

So, the new 'flat pack' rink in Altrincham is ok and does it's job. Inside is simple but clean (compared to the old run down, now demolished rink). Public skating isn't so expensive, but the skates you loan are not very good, so if you have your own bring them! and the location is excellent - right on the tram/train and bus station!

Although if going for public skating you are probably best to go as early as possible to actually have some room to skate around, especially if you are new or just like to not be stuck in a queue of people, while on the ice!

My main reasons for visiting is to watch the Manchester Phoenix Ice Hockey, while it's not the same as the great days watching the old Storm team in the M.E.N Arena, it is a good size and has good up close views from any seat.

“Expensive and not very good.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 29, 2014

The pricing on the website is not very clear but me and my 9 year old daughter wanted to try ice skating so just turned up. It cost £23 to get in and that included skate hire. The skates were not the best quality and kept coming undone which made it hard to skate. They have penguins which you hold on to that make it easier for kids to skate they cost £3 for 30 minutes at least the penguins were on minimum wage. The whole place feels run down and not worth the money they charge we had fun trying it out but wont be in a rush to go back. Just before we left my daughter fell and cut her knee so i went to the skate hire counter and asked for first aid and the man just threw a plaster on the counter which I didn't think was very good service. At least the car park was cheap 70p for 3 hours.

“Won't be going back in a hurry”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 27, 2014

Summary:
- Unbelievably expensive for skate hire, especially for skates that are awful quality, hard plastic that cuts people
- I broke two bones and they did very little to help
- Inside is very run down and old
- Usually have to queue for ages for skate hire
- People who work there/play icehockey whizz around between people, knocking people over because they go too fast
- Certainly wouldn't recommend for young children as there are always the rowdy type and as I said before, people who think they're great, speeding around and causing chaos

“Extra charge oh and another extra oh and thats an extra too”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 8, 2014

Ive never known a place like this with the oddest pricing structure Ive ever seen. Its like they are trying to get money from you at every turn. Entrance fee a charge ,skate hire a charge , got your own yes we will charge you for that too , want to pay by card yes thats a charge (really ??) oh and lockers yes thats a charge. Want to spectate oh yes thats a charge Place is looking very dated also. Got little change from £30 for 2 kids and me - extortionate ! Oh and dont forget your ice card or theres a .... wait for it a............ CHARGE !! forgot that one ! They really need to take a leaf out of ten pin bowling one fee thats it bish bash job done and nothing to spectate !! Usual low grade food options of fried this and that. The skating is fine however I guess its hard to go wrong with a circular chunk of ice.
