This was my first visit to Dunham Massey despite living not far from Altrincham for over 7 years. It was worth the visit granted that if your not a member of the National Trust you have to pay £11 for the house and garden ticket, there are concessions available.
It was the first day of the season when we visited, so it was quite busy. The house is fantastic and full of history both from the past and the present. It reminded me of the TV series Downton Abbey. There was also a few great characters that you meet on the way I.E. the butler, and then one of the maids. Also if you can play the piano then there is an old piano that they let you play in one of the drawing rooms.
The gardens are vast and have plenty to of flora and fourna to keep you amused, all in all a very good place to visit and well worth a trip if your in the area.
Also pop along to the Stables restaurant while your there, they serve some very good dishes and also snack type things. The staff were fantastic and I really enjoyed the soup that was on offer, which I'm assured changes from day to day.
