This was the first time we were able to get into the restaurant for Christmas Dinner as they are always fully booked months in advance, but to our delight their had been a cancellation early in the year and we were given the opportunity to enjoy dining at Players on Christmas Day. Having eaten their many times, our expectations were high.
The menu met everyone's taste buds, not always easy when dining in a party of 6, though my husband did ask for mash which they delivered to everyone's delight. To say everyone ate heartily was an understatement. The food was so delicious and well presented.
I had the scallops, perfectly cooked, followed by medallions of beef, cooked pink which is not always easy. Giving my son a taste of my beef, he commented that it was the best steak he had ever tasted and I must agree it definitely was.
Players definitely did not scrimp on the quality nor portion size.
There was only one sitting and the table was reserved at the outset, so there was no rush as to when you needed to arrive or leave. We were there 3 hours - and that is not because the service was slow, but because we were allowed to eat at our own pace and leisure.
Great service, even though the restaurant was fully booked with large parties
The whole family enjoyed the meal, with comments including this has to be the best ever Christmas Dinner. We are seriously considering booking next year - after all no preparation, no stress, no washing up - a relaxing time with great food was had by all.
Would definitely recommend this restaurant and not just for special occasions.
