“Get the tapas”

Small friendly place with good spanish food. Visit at lunchtime and get a tapas deal. The staff are friendly and helpful and the food is all you would expect

“Best tapas going!”
Reviewed April 5, 2013 via mobile

Visited La Rioja on Wednesday 4th April. Been here a few times now and the food is perfect. We ordered the tapas set menu which was plenty and cooked to perfection.
The service was brilliant and the waitress was extremely attentive and polite.
I'm looking forward to the next visit.

“Loving the new fusion theme”
Reviewed April 3, 2013

While enjoying the special deal on the paella at La Rioja, which was very tasty - husband went for the new fusion option on the menu. The chicken was both tender and full of flavour.

As always ordered too much, but the restaurant is always happy to supply a doggy bag for the leftovers - which always comes in useful for snacks the following day.

La Rioja also caters at the Belgian Bar with a limited menu and street food on special Altrincham Market events so you can enjoy their food in a variety of environments.

“Lovely food”
Reviewed April 2, 2013

We came for valentines day, the food was outstanding, we had a mixture of hit and cold tapas and it was all beautifully made. The wine was wonderful. Would definitely return but it was a bit on the pricey side so only for a special occasion.

“Food was good, service slow”
Reviewed April 2, 2013

Visited with my husband on Easter Saturday. Waitresses were very pleasant and we ordered 6 dishes of Tapas and some bread between us. Whilst this wasnt a big order, the bread came out first (which was fine), and the other dishes came out in dribs and drabs. One of the dishes (spinach) came out approximately 15 minutes after the first batch, so nothing to eat it with unless we saved a few bites from the previous dishes (which meant that it was cold).
We asked to see the dessert menu - I think there was 3 or 4 choices which was poor, so we didnt bother.
Whilst the Maitre De was pushing the kitchen, there wasnt an apology. I did expect them to take the spinach dish off the meal, or a free drink - that would have softened the blow, but nothing.
I wouldnt rush back which was a shame as the food wasnt bad.
