We stayed at Birtles farm at the weekend and found it excellent in terms of value, cleanliness, freindliness and warmth. There is a long drive up a winding farmyard track to the house, where you soon appreciate this is a fully working farm, with fields of wheat and animals all around. The bedroom we stayed in was great - large, very spacious, the door being an old hook/latch type. Although the building was very old, the rooms were decorated sympathetically and were modern with on-suite shower, TV and radio. We certainly enjoyed our stay, however, being a light sleeper, be aware that floors and ceilings are very thin and therefore you can hear people's conversations as well as their TVs, radios, phones, alarms etc. quite easily. Add to that, you can expect the farming team to be up very early!

Room Tip: For quieter room, pick one not above TV lounge!

Stayed for four nights and thoroughly enjoyed the location, though our early rising for breakfast caught Sharon off guard on the first day!

This is the first B&B we've come across where the towels are the 'right' size, a nice large bath towel for the lady and a short one for the man and a lovely soft fluffy bathrobe each.

The décor in all the rooms we saw (our bedroom, living room and dining room), were really well put together with lovely accent colours and matching furniture.

Being on a farm, the surroundings were a lovely site to wake up to in the morning, especially the array of dogs waiting for their breakfast and the horses being groomed in the courtyard.

Breakfast was lovely and a good selection of cereals, yoghurts, etc and of course the cooked breakfast (although I didn't sample one, my fiancé did, and he enjoyed them all) were available.

It is also in a great location for local attractions, i.e. aviation viewing park, Tatton Park, Dunham Massey and Quarry Bank Mill, and there are a couple of pubs/restaurants nearby.

I 100% recommend this B&B, the only thing that was missing was hot chocolate sachets, but I can live without that given the standard of the rest of the stay.

Stayed here for one night with Park and Ride facilities. Sharon and her family made us very welcome and the rooms are a very high standard and beautifully set up with fluffy dressing gowns and towels. Breakfast was varied and you could have any combination of the 'Full English' as well as fruit, yoghurt, cereals and toast etc. We left our cars there and they took and collected us from the airport and were there waiting for us when we landed. Friendly, helpful and a lovely place to start your trip. Will certainly remember this for the next time we fly from Manchester! Thanks Sharron.

Easy access to Manchester. Very spacious quiet room in old Tudor style house. Comfortable bed. more cushions than we knew what to do with! Good breakfast. The only thing to let it down was serious dust behind the bed.
