This place is local to us and we must have been at least a half dozen times. The food has never, ever been a let down but also rarely blows your mind either. Let's get the small negatives out of the way: veal burger overcooked and the mozzarella stuffing had leaked out or been forgotten, falafels were dull (to be expected, frankly), meringue in a summer fruit pudding mess a bit crunchy/powdery (i.e. bought in, we suspect). Everything else was a hit - e.g. BBQ mixed grill, very nice; posh fish (haddock in tempura batter) and chips was good; duck salad with breadcrumbed duck egg delicious.
We have never had anything but good food here. Certainly never poor, but equally never excellent. Special mention though to Hannah, our server for the evening. 5/5 for her attentiveness and charm - I was unintentionally a little awkward with questions about just how sweet the BBQ sauce was on my pulled pork, cancelling my starter after just ordering it etc. She could not have been more accommodating. Just a tiny thing - especially if she is considering a career front of house - when pouring wine lifted from a bucket be a little more careful that no water runs off the bottle onto the table, or like this evening, onto a guest's plate.
