“Good 8 mile walk without any hills”

An hour and a quarters drive from Aberdeen just outside Ballater with its own dedicated car park(parking fee £3). The walk follows a path around the loch and is pretty flat but parts are quite rough. Allow 3 hours and slightly longer if you have childern. We made that walk in late September and had a lovely sunny day. I was advised to wear shorts but a day latter realised that long trousers would have stopped my legs being bitten. Toilets and a visitors centre are situated at the start of the walk.

A lovely walk in beautiful countryside and not too strenuous. Loch Muick is a lovely drive up from near by Ballater and upon arrival there is ample parking. Gazing out onto the loch is one of those great to be a live moments, take a picnic and enjoy the walk.
If you are hungry on the way back Ballater has plenty of eating places if the weather is good get fish anmd chips from the local chip shop and eat al fresco on the green, fantastic.

The house you pass is called Glassel Shiel. It was built by Queen Victoria after the death of Prince Albert. It has nothing to do with the Queen mother

Fabulous view coming down by the waterfall after a hike up Lochnagar - we were very fortunate that the sun was out making our hike all that more special - beautiful, magical area.
