My wife and I have just returned from a break on Royal Deeside made memorable and enjoyable by our experience at the Deeside Inn, Ballater. From the welcome we received on arrival until our departure 3 days later we received nothing but first class service from the new General Manager Kevin and Deputy Lukas and staff. We had a very well furnished comfortable room on the first floor which suited us perfectly with our 2 dogs. The public rooms are lovely and furnished in a charming traditional style befitting the hotel. The food in the restaurant was beautifully cooked and presented well and the menu was excellent. The ambience in the restuarant and the bar was very warming set off by a nice choice of background music whilst the residents lounge with it's deep sofas and armchairs was so relaxing after a long day out. We also had live music in the bar one evening and thanks to Lukas learned a new way to enjoy our favourite tipple. We were both impressed by the professionalism displayed by the new managment and wish them every success in the future. We will have no hesitation in recommending the hotel to our friends and look forward to returning in the not too distant future

Spent one night in a triple room. No view and windows didn't open, but didn't matter. Room comfortable, spacious, and clean. Staff very friendly, and tour buses stay here as well. Large sitting area, an older looking bar area, and then a large restaurant as well.
The staff seemed to be mainly of German descent, if that is your language.
The included (for our booking) breakfast had a cereal and fruit buffet, and you could order a hot breakfast too. My husband had a full Scottish breakfast, my son had cinnamon french toast, and I had Scottish salmon and eggs - we were all very happy with the quality and the quantity of food.
Again, the front desk was very friendly, as were dining room staff.
There are stairs to lift your luggage up, but front desk will carry it for you if you need help, and we saw them offering that to other guests as well.
Good location in town with ample parking across the street.

A small hotel with a big friendly welcome. The staff are courteous, polite and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. Our room, on the 1st floor, was clean and well maintained. All day tea/coffee with exquisite strawberry flavoured shortbread is on offer in the ground floor lounge for most of the day. Nice touch!. The presentation, quality and flavours of the food at dinner are very good. However, there appears to be a sameness to the dinner menu. A slight disincentive to repeat dinner if staying for more than one night. I would recommend this hotel and may indeed return.

Stayed here on an Easy Break half board package at the end of July. On request at arrival, we were given a ground floor suite with huge bathroom - our 1st allocated room had the tiniest shower room ever. The Management and staff were extremely friendly and helpfull. One evening the Manager gave our firend 3 bottles of wine for him to bring through to the lounge for me to make my choice from! Very trusting! The food and service excellent however, there wasn't enough choice at breakfast if you wanted yoghurt and fresh fruit as there wasn't any at all!! and I don't eat cooked breakfasts!
Some entertainment of an evening - even a radio - would go down a treat to liven this place up!
I would stay there again!

Room Tip: No lift or porter to help with cases so ask for a ground floor room which seem to be junior suite si...

Dear Guest

Many thanks for choosing to stay at The Deeside Inn. I'm delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us and that you took the time to post your comments on Trip advisor. It is disappointing to hear that you were not offered the full breakfast buffet which does consist of fruit and natural yoghurt as well as a selecton of fruit segments and freshly baked pastries. And you will be pleased to hear that there is of course background music on in all public rooms, other than the lounge.

I look forward to welcoming you to The Deeside Inn sometime in the near future.

Warm regards

Just home from a weekend break at The Deeside Inn and had a fantastic time. The staff were all very friendly, helpful and courteous with nothing being too much trouble. Public areas were very charming and relaxing and our bedroom was very comfortable . We were on an inclusive dinner package and were blown away by the quality, flavour and presentation of the food at both dinner and breakfast. The location of the hotel in the centre of town was ideal with a great bicycle hire business right across the road. All in all, would thoroughly recommend a stay here and we will be doing our utmost to go back soon.
