We have just had a lovely meal here whilst staying at Craigendarroch - the whole meal was delicious from start to finish, with some of the best cheese I've had for ages. The staff were very attentive, despite a very large party of cricketers (which we were informed of when we booked). I would heartily recommend it and will definitely return when we are in the area.

Booked in after a long work day in Aberdeen to kick off a long weekend in the Highlands. Could not have been a better start. Fiona and Nigel very welcoming and I believe that they have been running Darroch Learg for well over 20 years. After such a long time, their friendliness and enthusiasm doesn't appear to have waned; relaxed, fresh and very welcoming. My room was very thoughtfully decorated & furnished and the bed comfortable - no noise filtered through from the rest of the hotel - great for a good night's sleep. The superb selection of gins that Nigel took me through was a revelation in itself (I did eventually choose one) which was then followed by a wonderful meal of local scallops and local lamb, exquisitely cooked; taste bud explosion! Nothing was too much trouble and I hope I get the opportunity to visit again.

Family favourite revisited after many a year break....

From dropping the bags so we could have a march around Loch Muick at high speed, return to warm up, hit the village, return to get ready for supper...we were met at the door by the hosts. Ready to chat, share news (weather and fishing sucess or otherwise!) we felt at home at all times.

Evening meal and wine choice was as it has always been...superb. Room was great, all the comforts that you could want and a solid nights sleep.

Breakfast was superb..didn't have to ask for 2 eggs or more toast...

When I checked out I had the best chat of the weekend with the host.."Please tell me,, don't do it on Tripadvisor after you leave!"

The only thing this business has to watch in my opinion is its pricing structure. We will go again as we love the place but first time visitors may not be able to understand the prices differences.

Repeat visitors will understand the value and not question it but there is some tough competition nearby for the first time buyers..

We took our daughter from London to Darroch Learg for a meal.
The food was outstanding. Service first class.
Big city quality at a reasonable price. The attention to detail shown by the owners who were both on duty makes all the difference.
Wonderful evening certainly worth repeating.

Booked the whole family, 3 generations, for one night and dinner to celebrate a special birthday. We were made extremely welcome and were all shown individually to our rooms which were all beautiful and quirky, such fun!

We had a great pre-dinner present opening in the little lounge with bubbles and everyone joined in the celebration! Dinner was excellent and the vegetarians amongst us were pleased with their option which was great because sometimes that can be the stumbling block.

After a great sleep in a room looking out at Lochnagar, we crept downstairs wondering whether we were the naughty guests that were noisy and disruptive in the dining room. We were reassured that we were not and so launched into a wonderful breakfast before heading off to Braemar and home ...

Pricey but worth the experience! We'll be back!

Room Tip: All rooms seem to look out over the front but the ones higher up have the view over the trees.

A delightful hotel with very welcoming hosts. We were given good advice about local attractions and made to feel very much at home. The dinner was quite special and not a bit rushed even though we were much later than advised. Our room had such a great view we didn't want to leave and the armchairs in the window space a delight.

Stayed her for 1 night as we had a wedding at a nearby hotel. We were kindly let into our room early to get changed before the wedding. We were told how to let ourselves in once we got back as the owner understood we had a wedding but turns out they were still there when we came back at he end of the night. Rooms were very big and spacious, and even on a wet and dull day the view was still lovely. We never made it for breakfast as we had a late night but were kindly offere something to eat and drink on check out. Lovely pleasant staff and very helpful and chatty.
