Hi well this place is something different, Indian Tapa as well as slightly more traditional dishes if you wish. All made freshly for you so sometimes it can take a while but in our experience always worth the wait. It is a Cafe style dining experience but it has a light and friendly atmosphere. The owner sometimes pulls a chair up and has a chat as if you are friends popping in for a visit. Some people like this some may not we think its a great welcome and we tend to feel like its just a great change from the normal corporate approach. The Food is always freshly made to order so if you like something a bit hotter or a little different from advertised that is no trouble, they are happy to accomadate where ever they can even went there with my mate and his kids and they knocked up something especially for them - no problem. This is not posh dining but great food relaxed atmosphere, good vaule and lots of choice and something very different from the standard indian you get. I think most of the food has its origins in Gudgerat. I would highly recommend. They do Takeaway too!

If you fancy something different than the normal Indian restaurants in Bedford then this is it. Food was good and prices great. It's somewhere i would go with mates but not for a nice meal with the missus.

One star because there is nothing lower I can enter!
Terrible "authentic Indian food".
Staff and manager alike in not caring about feedback and wanting to justify their excuse for pathetic food. Abyssymal customer care!
Shame really because they sell themselves as serving Indian food but honestly, does not even come close. If you want sub standard fare with snide management, by all means, visit.
Would never set foot in there again and certainly would not recommend to anyone.
Go there at your own peril!

The two things that hit me about Rajkot were the very basic and cramped surroundings and the completely overwhelming welcome.
This is very much 'cafe' and not restaurant - cramped and formica tables. The welcome was overwhelming - the owner joined us at the table and then spent a long time explaining how good the food was, how it was all freshly delivered and freshly cooked and how this was a genuine Indian restaurant and not Bangladeshi like all the others in Bedford.
My wife wanted a glass of wine, but we were told that it would be better value if we ordered a bottle. She didn't want a bottle so opted for beer instead, despite the fact that she would have preferred a glass of wine.
We chose the 'Indulge Bedford' menu and we were then told that they certainly "wouldn't stint us" and that we were in for a feast.
At this point I could see a board on the wall listing all those who had survived a portion of "Nuclear Wings" which is apparently too hot for most people to eat and the alarm bells started to ring in my head. This isn't the sort of stunt I'd expect to see in a reasonable restaurant.
The food, when it arrived, was distinctly average. Very little different from the fare being offered at a huge number of similar restaurants in Bedford - competition is very fierce, and average just isn't good enough in this area.
This is a perfectly average Indian restaurant with very basic surroundings and they would be better focussing on improving their décor and their service rather than overselling themselves.

The Rajkot is a unique and different Indian Restaurant it is not based on the traditional Bangladesh menu. The best food is its Mixed Grill and the range of Tapes meals. The Nan breads ore some of the best In Bedford.

Service is slow and the place is Cleary basic and not upmarket in décor and this is reflected in the price.

What the place lacks in style is made up by the quality of the food and the charm of the chief, waiters and of course Sam the Owner.

You need not fear having your first meal here as Sam will guide through the menu and ensure you get exactly what you require. If you take the advice of the people who have written reviews you will not be disappointed. We have been many times ranging from a boys night out to a night out with couples and I even booked a valentine meal last year. We have never been disappointed.
