“Great place for lake and river walks and a snack...”
Reviewed September 17, 2013

Lovely open walks around former gravel pits by River Ouse on tree-lined paths or pasture with two parking areas (free or donation). Flat so suitable for all ages and abilities. Wildlife (birds mainly) with hides and wood sculptures and alternative routes depending on purpose. Recently added outdoor play structures near entrance plus the excellent Teazels cafe. Used to be too small (a long shed with faded windows) but since expansion a few years back with terrance etc. is great and always busy. Pricing is mid/high for a cafe but more than reflected in the choice and quality of homemade fayre and a treat for after a walk or just a break.
Tip - don't use the prominent ice-cream van in the car park unless you're desperate. Expensive for what you get (very small portions).

“Great Bedfordshire Park”
Reviewed September 4, 2013

We drive about 20mins from north Bedford to this park, but it's worth it, you can go several routes in the park if you don't just want to walk round once, there are picnic tables, so bring food or eat/drink at the cafe there too. We bring the dog as many families do, and he always gets tired running round here!

“A Good Country Walk”
Reviewed August 23, 2013

This has a very pleasant walk around a lake of about 1 mile. There are longer trails available and you can combine trails for variety.Quite a lot of birdlife and a list of recent sightings is posted by the café.The café is also very good with homemade soups, cakes and sandwiches. Also good for a stop on the walk is if you divert into the village of Odell for a pub lunch at The Bell pub.

“Harrold-Odell Country Park”
Reviewed August 13, 2013

We visit this park quite regularly, my 3 (rising4) yr old loves it. There's a walk around the lake of just over a mile, suitable for bikes and buggies and you can do longer walks as well (there's a round of about 5 miles via Chellington church). You can buy duck food (they ask not to give bread, it's not healthy for wild birds) and she always enjoys feeding the birds. The cafe is nice for cakes/lunches but closes quite early (4.30 I think). There is a climbing frame near the cafe (ladders, platforms, slides, climbing wall etc) which is always popular and a playground at the Odell end which she always likes even though it is really for older children. There is also a ramp in the woods near the cafe for bikes/skateboards etc, for older kids. There is nearly always an ice cream van in the car park near the cafe, and decent loos. It's a very easy place to take a young child.

“Child friendly”
Reviewed August 6, 2013

Didn't have any preconceived ideas as to what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. A lovely cafe at the entrance of the park selling very nice cakes etc. Plenty of picnic tables if you'd rather bring a picnic. Slides and climbing frames for kiddies together with a small skate park. Ducks and swans on a large lake and plenty of dragonflies, unusual flowers and of course trees. Will certainly return.
