We both chose the slow cooked English Lamb rump and all the trimmings, it was absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately I forgot to take a photo and only remembered when my plate was empty. The service was brilliant and all the staff we're very welcoming and friendly. We have been before a couple of times and have never been disappointed. We will be returning and defiantly recommend it to ever one. It can be a bit expensive but a lovely treat.

We were looking for somewhere to have a Sunday roast, and decided on the spur of the moment to go to the Flying Horse. After having an excellent meal last week at The White Hart in the nearby village of Flitton we had high expectations.
We all ordered the roast chicken. The drinks took a while to arrive at the table, but we were told that a barrel had to be changed so we weren't that bothered. The meal arrived quite quickly. It wasn't very warm, the Yorkshire puddings could have been bounced off the wall they were so dry. The chicken was very dry too and the only veg available was parsnip and a tiny bit of cabbage.
Unfortunately we didn't see a waiter after the meal was delivered so we couldn't complain to anyone. After finishing our meal, and having empty glasses for quite some time, a waiter turned up and quickly removed the plates. We decided on the set menu pudding, but needn't have bothered - both the lemon posset and creme brûlée were very bland!
The meal came to £95 - I really feel that we were robbed and we definitely will not be returning.
Don't waste your money!!

This would be our fourth visit to this restaurant, and there is always a warm welcome awaiting.
There is a wide choice on the menu, and the food is always presented well, with large portions.
Our waitress was very helpful, and patience as we were talking not looking, so kept asking for a few more mins to mull over the menu.
The restaurant is very contemporary in appearance, clean, and menu is of good price, would recommend this restaurant to all friends, we took good friends with us on this occasion, and they were very impressed.

Came to visit friends and came here for a meal.

the building itself is amazing... lovely decorated and definately has wow factor.

the food was very nice a little bit pricy but very good.

service in the restaurant was good but drinks took a while to come and when we went into the bar you could see why... only 1 bar person on trying to do a million things at once. Have to say the cocktails were ace!!!

Overall would I go back... yes but only if I wasnt pressed for time.

Lets start with a positive - the bar stocks a diverse range of spirits, wines, champagnes and beer - their cocktails are excellent (if a little expensive - same as Leicester square prices) - additionally the food quality is usually good (although a little expensive for the portions served)

But despite the above, the pub is one to avoid - and all the problems are down to simple mismanagement.

The Bar: Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays all seem to only have 1 bar person working - on our most recent visit this was also the case, this causes chaos as soon as more than 3 or 4 people are waiting OR someone orders a cocktail. On our last visit - 10 minutes into waiting for a simple drink, a gentleman whom was sitting to the left of the bar doing paperwork whom was obviously in charge shouted across the bar to the barman questioning if he had checked the restaurants bar - despite plainly being able to see that we were all waiting (probably around 9/10 different orders waiting) he actually wanted the barman to leave the bar to go elsewhere to check other orders - this I believe is reflective of the attitude to "customer service" and certainly explains the poor service received. The bar staff themselves are very apologetic, polite and efficient in a position which they should not be placed into on a regular basis.

Food Service: Sadly the only consistency in the food service is that you can expect to have to prompt and ask for every little thing required - this includes napkins, salt and/or pepper and even cutlery on the last occasion. On our last visit on a Saturday afternoon we decided to sit in the tabled area immediately outside the restaurant - we were showed to our table efficiently and told someone else would be over to take our order shortly - immediately behind us another couple was seated just 2-4 minutes after us. After approx 14 minute I got up and approached a waitress whom politely informed me that " we have finished table service out here now" and that I should " go to the restaurant bar to place our order". At this point I would have left but we were there with parents whom wanted to eat so I proceeded to the restaurant bar - unfortunately the bar had no-one there, eventually (4-5 mins?) the barman from the main bar came and asked me to come to the main bar to place the order! Which he took efficiently despite a growing queue of persons wanting drinks building rapidly! This was immediately compounded by me returning to my table to find the couple behind us making their order at the table!!! Subsequent service was haphazard - 1 starter coming out 4/5 mins after the other 3, a long wait between courses or even plates being cleared - this had an obvious impact of wasps and flies being everywhere which put a lot of people off (us included - we left after eating and went to a nearby pub which was staffed properly and was not covered by swarms of insects. The waitresses were polite but seemed to be unorganised and untrained.

Food Quality: Usually good - few silly mistakes such as dried up side salads, missing sauces and garnishes but the Chef obviously knows how to cook. Portion sizes are a little small.

In all this could be a fantastic pub/eaterie however the owners need to invest a little time and money in getting the staff fully trained and ensuring staffing levels meet demand - the prices would be acceptable IF the service was great or even good, but having to pay more for food here than at Raymond Blancs excellent brasserie (less than 25 mins away) for unacceptably poor service, inconsistent meal quality and smaller portions is simply a nonsense. Similarly the bar prices are steep considering the wait you are almost guaranteed to incur.

Unfortunately one to avoid until the owners either lose enough money to concentrate their minds on delivering an acceptable quality of customer service level or they continue to ignore it and eventually lose the pub. Great pub & restaurant in a great location but let down by mismanagement - there are lots of very good pubs close by - save yourself the hassle and the waiting and go elsewhere.
