I visited the Cappuccino Bar with a group of 8 friends for a 'girlie night out'. We booked for 8.00 pm on a Friday night and so expected the restaurant to be busy. It was heaving!
On arriving, we were shown to our seats at the back of the restaurant (we had requested that area as it is under a canopy and is a bit more atmospheric).
The drinks menu/wine list is basic. a few Red/White wines, beer, cider nothing too exotic. Orders were taken and drinks arrived quickly. A jug of water was put on the table without us needing to request it. A large basket of bread and butter was also brought over as we read the menu.
The evening menu represents brilliant value for money £10 a head for a started and main course (I think it is a few pounds more for steak?).
I had the calamari to start, others had the baked mozarella, garlic mushrooms or brushetta. No complaints at all.
The main courses were equally delicious, although they had forgotten to place one of our party's order. This meant she had to wait 5-10 minutes while they prepared her food. We noticed that orders were getting mixed up on other tables, indeed the staff had tried to give us another party's starters.
That said, when her food did come, it was steaming hot and looked divine.
This is a lovely little restaurant providing good value italian fare. At busy times, the service seems to slip a little in terms of organisation, but the staff are friendly, helpful and still earned a tip. I am told their lunch time menu (one course and an alcoholic drink for £5) is also excellent.
The Cappuccino bar is an excellent place for a credit-crunch friendly get together with friends. Well worth a visit.
