Stayed recently at the hallmark Carlisle , down stairs in the hotel is beautifully decorated , the food is lovely and staff well they make the hotel all so friendly especially the girls in the restaurant cannot do enough for you . Breakfast is a buffet style which is also very nice.
The room well I upgraded to the executive suite couldn't tell you if this was worthwhile as I didn't see any standard rooms to compare too . I wouldn't of called our room executive , the bathroom was quite outdated the room was ok wouldn't say it's the best room I've ever had but basic really comfortable bed was the best thing in there.
We stayed for a long weekend the only things around are a few bars and places to eat around apart from that not much else really to do so we went out for day and cane into the hotel bar late evening.
Overall it's a nice place to have an overnight stay and the staff are so nice they made the stay very pleasant for us.

Thank you for your review and nice comments I will pass them onto the team they will really appreciate them. I am sorry that you did not find much to do in Carlisle, there are a few visitor attractions such as the Castle, Cathedral and Museum and lots to do in the surrounding area it all depends on what you are looking for and obviously weather prevailing!
We do hope that you will visit us again in the near future.

Kind regards

Stayed Here for a night on a cycling holiday. Lovely decor and great staff efficiency. Checking in was quick and efficient. The bar and restaurant are very good. The hotel is close to the centre of town and right next to the railway station. We stayed on a weekend night and the late night noise of partygoers kept us awake. The hotel is 5 mins walk from the pedestrianised shopping area. If I am honest there didn't seem much to see in the centre of Carlisle. The castle and cathedral seem the highlights. The rooms are well fitted and have good equipment. There was a large plant growing on the outside of the window. Frame which worried me a bit on maintenance. The lift was a bit clunky as well. Overall pretty good though.

Room Tip: Get a room not facing a street if possible.

Thank you for your review we very much appreciate it. My apologies for the disturbance this can happen being in the city and sincere apologies about the growth outside the window, this has now been removed again these things can happen but we sometimes it is only when guests bring these to our attention, that they can be rectified.
I very much appreciate you comments about the staff I will pass these onto the team.
Thank you once again and next time you are visiting Carlisle we would love to see you again.

We spent one night there and we enjoyed the location, right near the station and the city centre with all amenities, restaurants, pubs and the castle of course.
Shame there was so much noise outside at night but the hotel itself is great. Rooms are very modern and comfortable. Dinner was delicious and breakfast is a good self service offer. Wifi is complementary but sometimes difficult to get everywhere.

Have stayed before, will stay again. Staff always VERY friendly and helpful. Room comfy. Breakfast plentiful and good. Dinner excellent, plenty of choice and quantities and service very good. No complaints, apart possibly of the view from the room (at the back!)). Car park small but adequate if you arrive early. If not, railway station car park next door.

As others have said, it's the staff that really make this hotel - they really couldn't be more helpful, during our stay last weekend. The breakfast buffet was ample, to the point where we managed to skip lunch. What does let the hotel down is, as others have stated, the club culture on Friday and Saturday nights and the noise levels resulting from it. Single glazed windows don't help, either, but I would imagine the cost of replacing them with double glazed would be astronomical - given the hotel's size.

If I have one word of advice, it's this. If you book an Executive room for a Friday and/or Saturday night, make sure you request one at the back of the hotel - not all of the executive rooms are at the back of the hotel and you could find yourself in one at the front.

Thank you for your review and nice comments about the staff, we very much appreciate them.
My apologies that you were disturbed by outside noise, being in a city centre this can sometimes be the case, but thank you for your comments regarding glazing, we do have secondary glazing in majority of the rooms but yes you are correct in saying the costs are prohibitive not only that, the building is listed and its not easy to gain the permissions to do such things as we wish.
Thank you again and we do hope that we can welcome you back to the hotel in the near future.

Kind regards

We stayed at the Hallmark hotel in Carlisle on Saturday night for one night only on a bed and breakfast basis. On arrival the car park was a strange set up, you had to take a ticket at the station car park to allow you to get in through the barriers, then drive throught the station car park and out the other side and through another two barriers before you got into the hotel car park. Once there the car park was tiny, only 26 spaces, and if someone hadn't come out while we were there we would not have got a space. I believe you get a discounted rate in the station car park but we didn't ask. Check in at the hotel was swift, the lady on reception very friendly, and the area nice and welcoming. Our room was on the third floor at the back of the hotel, a bit small (you could only easily get out of one side of the bed) with an en-suite shower room. The bed was one of the comfiest I've ever slept in, and the room was really quiet so a good nights sleep was had. The bedding was clean and the room generally clean but there was an obvious coffee spill on the wall which should have been cleaned off. The bathroom was clean and tidy too but the toilet was very difficult to flush, refusing completely sometimes, which could have been a problem. The shower was lovely and warm when you got in it but had the ability to go freezing cold at random times, and a bit of thought would have meant there would be a shelf or basket there to put your shampoo and shower gel in while you were in there. It was also non adjustable height or direction wise which would have been good. Breakfast was lovely, a good selection and nice food. The service was good too.
The reason this hotel got this rating though was the staff, always pleasant and helpful, even the bar staff shouted goodbye to us as we left, a nice touch. Come on Hallmark, get your rooms up to scratch to match your staff!

2 night business stay, clean room, although bathroom a bit dated, but perfectly usable. Loads of hot water, good powerful shower. Breakfast was good, and staff helpful and friendly. Even the housekeeping staff saying good morning! Good car park arrangements, although not the easiest to find using satnav! Will use again.
