Decided to use our nectar points for meal out at Strada. Restaurant is always busy and this weekend was no different. Sadly this meant we waited 45minutes for our starter, which suddenly turned up after we complained about the wait. There was no apology for the delay until after we moaned and the couple next to us said the same. Once starter arrived, it was great. Soup was delicious and my prawns were sweet and tasty, perfectly cooked. Another long wait and complaint brought our mains out. Risotto was lovely, far better than Ask, Prezzo or Zizzi. Our second complaint resulted in an offer for complimentary drinks which went some way to making amends but disappointed we had to make a fuss before getting an apology. Good customer service would have been to pre empt this. Would also say tables too small, bearing in mind we had a dish each, jug of water and bottle of wine which barely fitted on table. Also it's not the most intimate of restaurants, acoustics poor so lots of noise and not cosy atmosphere. So good food but poor service.

I enjoyed the good quality starter , nice presentation. Nevertheless the rissoto was very average and the restaurant was rather noisy. Maybe the music was too loud.

Went to this restaurant as a belated Valentines fay meal with my wife. It's a nice restaurant that is a bit classier than the average pizza joint. My wife's steak was great but my chicken 'escalope' was a little plain. Staff were very nice and polite.

visited with family on feb2013.... nicely decorated, clean ,, all in good order ... nice staff , attentive but not overly so... very spacious which i suppose would be good for anyone in a wheelchair although on the minus side the wc's are on a upper floor.. nice choice of starter and main dishes ,,well prepared...... it would be a nice place for all the groups listed in the visit boxes below... maybe a little pricey,, but worth it for the food and service ,,,, couldn't fault it in anyway....

Have dined here multiple times.
Our most recent visit was mostly good but the menu seemed to lack common sense in places. While my pizza was delicious, my partner went for the lamb shank which turned out to be simply just the lamb and a some mashed potato. Although not listed on the menu, we expected it to come with some sort of vegetables but were informed that they would need to be ordered as extras. I know that it's Italian rather than British cooking, but there should be room for the classic "meat and two veg".
Dessert also left a bit to be desired. We had the "chocolate fondant", which wasnt really anything of the sort. While the menu promised a runny middle, what we actually got was a cake with some runny-ness on top - not really the same thing, and for the price we would have expected better.

On the whole though, it was an enjoyable evening and I have enjoyed many nights at Strada, Colchester.
