So impressed by this amazing little theatre. Pleasant, friendly atmosphere. High standard of acting and props. An impressive array of lighting equipment equal to much bigger theatres. Near to town centre so plenty of good restaurants nearby.

Its such a nice intimate theatre, small but perfectly formed.
The shows are many and varied.
There is a bar, serving tea and coffee too.
One can also feel part of the play due to the proximity of the front row to the stage.
Go and help support this lovely little gem.

The Headgate Theatre is a superb venue for seeing great intimidate performances. I have been there to see music and drama. The theatre seats 85 people and has full modern equipment for staging productions. It is in the heart of Colchester next to The Warehouse Restaurant, so it is easy to have a meal and a show. There is ample parking nearby and the staff are really friendly.

I went here with friends to watch a musical production for charity and it was most certainly good and the theatre is small but very nicely decorated. I think the amateur productions are as good as profressional plays, you certainly don't the big stage or bright lights or fancy décor to make a good theatre. If anything simplicity is often best. I would definitely return.

This theatre is in Colchester's town centre and puts on a variety of productions, mostly by local groups.
It's small, with tiered seating, is run by volunteers and has a lovely bar upstairs.
Some of the plays are of such high quality, they could be professional.
I recommend a visit!
