Owner description: Colchester's distinctive heritage is nowhere more apparent than in Castle Park. A site of national importance, this Victorian Park contains evidence of 2000 years of history and is a landscape moulded by the people of Colchester over many eras.Castle Park not only encompasses much of Colchester's rich heritage within its boundaries but is much loved and used as a part of present day life. It boasts over 1 million visitors a year. Providing a green oasis in the town centre, you can sit, walk, enjoy music, play games, or picnic amongst wonderful flowers and trees. Its horticulture is award-winning and the park has long been a superb venue for the town's big events. The park itself is designated Grade II on the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in England.

a lovely well kept park...... nice flower beds and the hedges are often cut into animal shapes which is rather amusing for kids .... nice play and also a small lake with paddles for hire in the summer ....... also the park has a cafe serving hot food , and ice-cream and a bandstand.. stages a wide range of events throughout the year... the castle museum is also situated in the park... a nice place

“Possibly the best children's play area ever”

My children's favourite play park - it keeps them occupied for ages. It is often exceptionally busy but the children (of all ages) seem to rub along nicely together.

“The best park in Britain”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 23, 2013

The park is just wonderful. It is a quintessential English Victorian park with some amazing modern features. We went to the Colchester Food and Drink Festival and had a terrific day out. There is a boating lake and a bandstand. The flower beds are spectacular.
