Owner description: Follow the story around this beautiful Georgian building taking in domestic life and childhood in Colchester over the past 300 years. Meet many different characters from the past and experience Colchester's fascinating history. Discover what family life was life for the rich and the poor. Then be transported back to the days before washing machines to try out a dolly peg and dress up as a servant.

Nice and interesting little museum, and free as well so if you don't like it, then get out. A nice collection of bygones bits and pieces, lovely toys; mostly about Colchester.

The museum day.tour for school children is great and they make it as interactive and interesting as possible for the children. I had a look round at the exhibits and there are some very interesting things to see. It's also a lovely old house and much older than I originally thought.

A pleasant little collection of bygones to while away an hour in the middle of Colchester. There's a wonderful doll's house displaying the furniture and fashions of Colchester's heydays. And it's free!

Many interesting displays of local stuff and easy to understand explanations. Local parking not particularly easy.

Very informative & its free.
I loved the descriptions of the original house & the portrait of the woman that had many grandchildren.
