This hotel is very good to stay even it is very very old building. The customer service is excellent, all staff members are very helpful, manager is very time ready to help me what i need.
The car parking is very large but little miss understanding because the sign post doesnt matter they are still in refurbishment.I read all reviwe about this hotel and i wanted to know about the reality and booked hotel for 4 nights. For reasonable price as comparision of other hotel in that colchester area.
While staying in this hotel,i got chance to chat with Manager with long hair guy about the guest who put that review and i came to know for £60 pound 3 people including breakfast, paying comission to network distributer its doesnt worth. Now they have new hotel with all facilities really
amazing hotel for the high price.Open terrace good for the smoke.Town centre is very near from this hotel walking distance for the outing.
I would like to recommend every traveller who wants to visit colchester to stay in this hotel, all you will good value for your money and you will have good sleep.

Whatever you do - dont book this hotel. It is the worst hotel by far we have stayed at. Here is a ist of the following shortcomings of this hotel which is suppsed to be 3-stars. It might be a 3-star hotel when the dooms day has arrived. 1. There was a non-existence reception and whatever staff working there leave in the evening!! As a small example - in case of fire in the hotel you are asked to call a super-long local phone number!! 2. The breakfast was terrible or even worse than that and non-existence. On the first day there was a loaf of bread in its plastic bag and a toaster for the guest to toast and some nescafe. That's it. We asked for orange juice and got the most watered out mixed orange juice ever. The breakfast became "better" a couple of days later providing the quest with a crappy bag of dry croissants. At the same time- the hotel staff were enjoying their breakfast in the kitchen with eggs and other delicious breakfast meals. 3. The rooms smells of super strong cleaning material and after a couple of days when that smell is gone it just smells funky. Our luggage and clothes still smells like that crappy funky hotel. 4. The staff at the hotel was rude and never said hi! We stayed there for two weeks because it was already paid for but would we had the opportunity we would have left the same day we arrived. 5. The rate of the night is much cheaper when booking in Colchester than via Hotels.com which furthermore proofs the dodgy moral of this hotel owners. 6. The showers did not drain the water properly and we repeatedly asked to fix the draining as it was impossible to shower with out flooding the whole bathroom. 6. Speaking of the shower/toilet. It was not a proper toilet./shower room It seemed like taken from a housecare/housevan and installed in the kitchen area. It was all plastic and super super small. You could not even stand in there and brush your teeths 7. Their internet did not work the full first 7 days! The remaining 7 days the internet worked poorly and we tried to adress this with the hotel owners but in vain. 8 Regarding security - One night - some other guests started a horrible drunk/drug related fight in the middle of the night for several hours. Since the reception is non-existent and there is no staff at night guests are left in this environment to call the police on their own. 9. They do not have an elevator which makes it extremely cumbersome if you are travelling with children and a lot of luggage. They do not assist in any way so guests have to run up and down to get their luggage into the room. 10. Some rooms are equipped with a small kitchen but no cooler so there is no place to store food anyways. 11. The only good thing with this hotel was the nice feeling of checking out but even that was a disaster as hotel owner did not allow for a check-out 2 ours later (i.e from 11 to 13) without a charge. 12: Whatever you do - DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL!!!

The car park is a little bit awkward to get to when you first arrive, would be useful if they put up some signs to help guests. We had a car with a trailer and the staff let us use another car park as they only have about 20 spaces.

Check in was a bit of a funny process. The receptin is across the way from the hotel entrance, but not over the road, I assume it is another business belonging to the owner, it's not a huge inconvenience.
We gave our details at reception & someone showed us over to the hotel, we were shown into our rooms with our luggage but he wouldn't give us the room keys. We then moved our car to the correct car park, then went back to reception to pay, then taken to our rooms again & shown how to use the room key. It was a bit of a fuss but I don't know if it was just because we had parked in the wrong place when we first arrived.

I was apprehensive after reading reviews but the rooms were very nice & clean. The bed was very comfortable.

The restaurant used for breakfast is the indian restaurant, not a huge selection of food. The staff seemed confused & didn't communicate with us about what we wanted on both mornings. We were sat at a used table with no cutlery on the 2nd morning.

Good access to Colchester city centre where we were working.

We went to The Riverside pub down the road for Dinner and it was average pub food if you don't want a curry.

Overall the hotel is good but the staff need to communicate with the guests properly as we were just very confused about what we were meant to be doing.

A reasonable hotel located very close to the town centre. I just wanted somewhere to stay overnight, close to Colchester train station. I was met by the owner who took me to the room and showed me the facilities. The room was clean and bed comfortable. For the price, I think this was a really good deal.

I ate food in the Indian restaurant downstairs, which was fantastic.

Room Tip: I had a double-room, which I would recommend.

I gave this hotel the benefit of the doubt from the reviews I had read on here. Big mistake very very low standard of cleanliness, carpet was filthy, bed clothes were discoloured! room smelt. etc etc. No staff on site. When this was broached with the manager/proprieter after they had been contacted by the booking agent, It resulted in a very unprofessional telephone call.

I was overbooked at the hotel and the staff placed me in a nearby flat to which they took me. The proprietor arranged taxis from the flat to the places I needed to go. The flat was clean and came equipped with the usual hotel amenities. For the 50 Pound price, I was pleased with the service.
