We often visit this restaurant when visiting the inlaws in Rotherham. I have always found the food excellent, my personal favourite being the venison rossini. Waitress service is normally good although can be slow when busy. There is a small outdoor play area that my 3 kids enjoy. The toilets are clean, but are in need of updating. Overall I would recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting good food in a relaxed atmosphere.

What I like about the earl is the menu, its not like the other boring pub stuff it has some stuff on you wouldnt normally get and its worth while. Venison steak with a sauce is very nice food comes failry quickly and is worth every penny. also have a good specials board service is good, the place is clean and friendly cant really pick a fault

I was looking forward to eating here as the menu seemed to have a good choice. However, I did not feel that the food justified the £100 bill for 4. Trying to get the attention of waiting staff was quite a job, unless you were a regular and then they bent over backwards for them We do not think that we will be visiting again.

We booked to go for a meal for a birthday as the pub has a reputation for being one of the best within the area.

The menu has a good choice and the staff were friendly. The food was average but due to it being one of those mentioned places I think we all expected a little bit more.

One thing which did let the evening down was the overall service. This is due to all staff serving on tables on an ad hoc basis rather than having set areas. This meant that from sitting down 4 staff asked for our initial order. Someone else brought the starters, another cleared away, someone else the mains etc. At several times throughout the night we were left with no one serving us, staff just walked up and down oblivious. However there were a number of regulars in who were served above and beyond, this is understanding to look after customers, but not good for new customers and puts you off returning. .

Overall the food was good quality but the experience wasn't quite as expected. It would be improved by having set service areas.

Lovely building and surroundings, ease of access - wheelchair user - but the food was not home made and was basic frozen quality. Deep fried brie wedges - tasteless, nice piece of tuna cooked until it gave up all its juices and three bean chilli looked and was very dry. The service was good and polite but the food was a disappointment.
