Very mixed reviews of this place which makes it difficult to decide whether to try, my advice would be that it's well worth giving it a go. Yes, some of the staff are young and inexperienced but definitely not unpleasant. The dishes come a little too quickly for my taste and give the impression of being a little bit rushed, but not excessively so. It can get a bit congested too, but at the end of the day the food is nice quality, well presented and the prices are very reasonable.Three courses of good food for under £18 is cracking value these days - you would pay at least double that at, say Beatson House across Barnsley. The menu is extensive - you're almost certain to find something that suits (sometimes you compromise on your likes in restaurants with less choice) All in all, well worth a try out.

On first arriving at le bistro tonight it was quite busy and we were sat at a table pretty much in the doorway. We all felt a bit squashed in as the table we were at would have comfortably sat 4 people but there was 6 of us. We ordered wine initially, which when brought over to us was put on the windowsill behind us for us to get and pour ourselves. The food was generally of a good quality and we all enjoyed what we ordered. The desserts were not as good. We did tell the waiter that they were not as good as the rest of the food but he didn't really comment. We were also charged for extra drinks on the bill to what we had ordered; however this was rectified easily when we mentioned it. We have all eaten at le bistro before but felt a bit disappointed tonight. There is a lack of personality to the restaurant and the courses are rushed through. It is too cramped and they could do with taking a few tables out to give people more space. It is a shame as the restaurant is in a lovely location and the food is generally good, but the atmosphere and the service spoils it. I hope this review is useful; however the restaurant is always busy so they must be doing something right :)

Thank you for looking after us so well today. We stopped off on the way to Wentworth Woodhouse with only an hour to spare for lunch. Service and food were excellent and staff friendly and kind. Bonus to sit in the sun for an hour. Wish we had arrived earlier for more leisurely experience, but really grateful that the staff accommodated our need for speed! Thanks again.

We visited le bistro with a group of friends to celebrate my wife's birthday on 30th July. The food and service we received was excellent and the owner went out of her way to make sure we all had a very enjoyable evening. After our evening meal the weather brightened up and the duty manager very kindly set us a table up out side which added to our enjoyment. This is an establishment to be proud of with excellent staff and service

Where to even start? Couldn't wait to finish our meals so we could leave. Like my title states it's more of an night out for the staff than yourselfs, gossiping about events that are going to be taking place over the summer, found them very rude rushing you through each course, approaching the table with no manners just a simple "have you finished" - when clearly we haven't or we was still chewing our food. The atmosphere was lively with a big birthday party in the smaller room, although tables are that close together we could hear other couples conversations around us! The food is just simple, maybe has to be for the cheap price? All in all I don't think we will be returning anytime soon which is a shame as its a lovely little village.
