The good bits;
The Owner and his Manager werepleasant and welcoming people.
The ok bits;
The breakfast was ok The bacon & sausage could have been better quality. The black pudding was very good.
The price was good but the value not so good.
The not so good bits:
The Manager was smoking in the lounge and had an ash tray full of dog ends on the table in front of him so the whole lounge and bar area stank of cigarettes.
The room and adjoining bathroom were not very clean - OK on surface but not so much on closer inspection. The mirror and tile splash backs were marked. There was a lot of mould in the bathroom particularly round the base of the shower and the pipe box in front of it. The toilets appeared clean but the hinges were covered in dust and something less wholesome. In the bedroom the towel ring was broken off and one of the taps was very loose. To cap it all the sheets, though they had been washed, were stained. This was well below our expected standard. We left after one night and will not return.
Conclusion:
If you like a smoky public room, mould and less than top cleanliness then go there, otherwise one to avoid.

First glance an unassuming run of the mill B&B type hotel, how wrong! Full of characters and anyone who likes 60's music will be ecstatic. Packed with photos and memorabilia you will be entertained by the staff who are friendly and helpful, the prices are reasonable as well.
I can heartily recommend a visit where you might be rubbing shoulders with a 60's pop legend who may be staying at the hotel.

Excellent stay at this really cosy hotel. Some great characters at the hotel especially the old lad Sunday morning. Friendly and helpful staff and a hearty breakfast the following morning helped the lads get over there hangovers. Would really recommend to other rugby teams on tour, if you ring and have enough people they will rent whole hotel just to your team.
Thanks for the welcome look forward to staying again
