As Skegness was always a favourite resort of ours when we lived in the north of England, since moving to the south (and substantially further away) several years ago, we nostalgically fancied revisiting Skegness again for a few days. We consequently enjoyed a very pleasant three nights break from Tuesday 4 March.

Skegness has retained its old charm and has remained a traditional family seaside resort boasting all the usual attractions including theatre, pier, fun fair, a lovely sandy beach and lots of shops and restaurants etc. We managed to take in a fabulous show at the Embassy Theatre during our stay called ‘Happy Days Are Here Again’ which we enjoyed tremendously (see my separate review on the Embassy Theatre Skegness).
We also enjoyed a lovely ‘Tea Dance’ at the North Shore Golf Hotel, which was only about twenty minutes walk away, where we were made most welcome.

We stayed at the small comfortable Eastleigh Hotel on Scarborough Road. The Eastleigh, which is more a very friendly guest house than a hotel, is ideally situated adjacent to the sea front and less than a minutes walk from the pier. The Eastleigh does have a small private car park to the rear of the hotel, but there is only parking for about four cars, which is not really adequate as the hotel has seven guest rooms. Street parking is available if you are lucky enough to find a space, failing that there is an adjacent pay and display car park.

Our room at the Eastleigh was number 7 on the top floor (three floors up) reached only by various staircases and landings (plus several steep steps leading up to the front door of the hotel). As I am in my late sixties with a heart problem, by the time I had carried our luggage upstairs I was left absolutely breathless and exhausted.

Our room itself, although fairly small was quite comfortable and extremely clean. There was an ensuite bathroom containing a lovely large shower enclosure and a toilet. Regrettably there was no space left in the bathroom for the wash basin which was fitted in the bedroom.
A really nice touch was a small ‘fridge in the room which contained complimentary water and soft drinks. Complimentary tea and coffee etc, along with a kettle was also provided as was a selection of toiletries. The really big bonus to us was that fast and completely free WiFi was available in our room – a very big thank you to the hotel owners for all these very thoughtful touches.

Despite the obvious potential drawbacks with the parking, we would definitely stay at the Eastleigh Hotel again and hope to do so later this year. We would however, due to my health problems, ask for a larger room on a lower floor which, following a discussion with the very helpful hotel owner prior to leaving, he said he would be able to do for us.

We would certainly recommend the Eastleigh to anyone wanting a conveniently situated, comfortable, extremely clean and very friendly hotel.

Thank you so much for staying with us and a big thank you for the nicely detailed review.
With many guests not arriving by car, parking is not normally an issue except in the summer high season. Outside of July and August we can usually accommodate all guests' cars in our car park. You'd be surprised how many people still enjoy the thrill of rail travel!
We look forward to seeing you in Skegness again soon.

The staff were polite and helpful, my friend hurt her foot so the manager went out and brought bandages, which was extremely nice of him. The rooms were lovely and clean, and the drinks/tea/coffee were re stocked every day. It was overall a perfect hotel for our holiday! Would defiantly come again!

In general hotel was better than expected. Although I had few little issues like:
- water pressure in shower is really low - so little bit annoying, as takes ages to shower
- pipe noises during the night, not sure if walls are to thin?
- bedding wasn't 100% cotton - normally wouldn't mind - but this make you sweat!

Apart from that - lovely, nice and clean hotel :)

Thank you for staying overnight with us and for leaving a review. I'm sorry you had some issues that made your stay less than perfect.
Our showers are usually great - although we have power showers, the pressure may drop at peak periods. Guests can normally expect to enjoy a hot shower with plenty of water every morning.
Our bedding is all 100% PIMA cotton, which we prefer over Egyptian cotton. It has a silkier feel which can lead people to think it is a polyester mix. That is not something we would ever use. Heating during this changeable weather is a real problem, with some guests feeling the cold and some being overly hot. We've added free-standing oil-filled radiators to many rooms so that guests can adjust it to their own liking and comfort.
Thanks again and my apologies again that we didn't get it 100% right!

Stayed for one night and instantly wished we'd booked another. Very clean and good location. Loved that there was a mini fridge with drinks ready and waiting and how there was an actual proper hair dryer and straighteners included. Even cotton wool pads and make up remover and body lotion. I didn't need half the stuff I bought! Only slight downside was we found the duvet very hot (room 2) and both woke up sweating like crazy during the night. Will stay again the next time we're in Skeg.

Thanks for the excellent review and for choosing to stay with us. We're glad you liked the room and all the amenities it offered, but sorry you were too hot during the night. It's very difficult at this time of year with changeable weather to know if the heating should be on/off and whether we should/shouldn't use winter duvets. If you had been staying longer we would have been able to provide alternative lighter bedding. We promise to get it spot on next time!

A very warm welcome greeted us on our arrival. Nothing was too much trouble, even carried bags upstairs. Rooms spotlessly clean and well stocked complimentary items. Beautifully decorated room, comfy bed and sofa, Tv n fridge in extra extended room and shower was powerful and HOT (perfect) Fantastic location (opposite pier) for town, amusements and food outlets. Highly recommend and sure to return.

Room Tip: Luxury double room a must.

This is a superb hotel located so close to the Skegness front. It's spotlessly clean and nicely decorated. We stopped here Valentines weekend and the owner Ian really helped with my plans to give my partner a weekend that she found very special. The hotel has some lovely touches and has wonderful toiletries the rooms are home from home.
