“Excellent location and performance!”
Reviewed June 22, 2013

Went to see The Comedy of Errors. Brilliant production in a beautiful location. Luckily, the sun stayed out which I guess added to the experience - I think it would be difficult to hear the actors if it's raining or windy. Excellent value for money, will definitely be returning next year.
Only unusual thing, which obviously didn't affect the performance, is the actors didn't come out for a final bow. The scene just ended. Thought that was a shame as it's a chance for the audience to show their appreciation.

“Wonderful Evenings Entertainment”
Reviewed June 15, 2013

First visit to the Rutland Open Air Theatre at Tolethorpe hall near Stamford. it was the wife's birthday so booked to see A Midsummer Night's Dream. Great location, plenty of parking, friendly staff the theatre is great, under cover but the stage is in the open air. We had seats in row G centre and the view was very good. Mind you all the seats appear to have a great view too. The performance by Stamford Shakespeare company was very good indeed. Tickets cost £15 per seat (all seats are the same price but you can reserve particular seats when booking.) One good option is that you can order your interval drinks at the bar before the performance starts and you are pre allocated a table and your drinks are waiting for you. Great.....so impressed we have already booked again for this year to see Shakespeare's The Comedy Of Errors and a production of Dads Army (The Lost Episodes.)

“Great historic venue”
Reviewed May 19, 2013

Associated with the adjacent Tolethope Hall just a bit out of Stamford, Shakespearean plays were actually performed here in the bard's time.
I had the privilege of attending a performance here one evening after a picnic on the lawns.
The seating was cramped (I am 6'4") so sat sideways to alleviate the constraints.
A historic venue that is worth supporting.

“Faultless performances”
Reviewed May 10, 2013

Go to see at least one of the plays here this summer. discount if booking all three. Cast of players are faultless and its a tip top quality performance. What ever the play. Bring a picnic if weather is kind and/or sit with a drink before the performance. Hot drinks too available at half time. Restaurant, booking asked for, available too. Audience never gets wet as under canopy. Players do get wet if rainy night! Bring a cushion and a rug as even mild nights get chilly later on.
Beautiful setting. Plenty of well organized car parking.

“A cool summers Evening - just OK”
Reviewed April 30, 2013

A nice start is a picnic on the lawns if its fine but it wasn't - the open air theatre is novel but does not endear you if its windy and cold. Seating is a bit tight for tall people and the interval refreshments could do with a little more streamlining
